He went out to the garden and I'm waiting for my son to reply to an IM. So much for instant messaging.

With compliments and respect please I beg your pardon for this
unsolicited nature, it was was out of desperation and Curiosity that made me
to contact you, to introduce myself , I am Barrister Morris Johnson, a
solicitor at law.
I am the personal attorney to Sir Richard, a national of your country, who
used to work with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) here in
Nigeria, is referred to as my trusted client.
On Sunday, 27th of January 2002, my client, his wife {Lady Anna and
their three childrean{Elizbeth,Dexter and James} were involved in
terrible bomb blast that took live of innocent souls and unfortunately
over 1000, people lost their lives and my client and his family were part of
this people that lost their lives. In view of this please view the web page
below http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/2698081.stm
Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate
any of my client's extended relatives, this has also proved
unsuccessful. After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track
his last name over the Internet, to locate any member of his family or any
close name to his, hence I contacted you.
I am contacting you to assist in repatriating the money and property left
behind by my client before they get liquidated or declared Unserviceable by
the bank where this huge deposits were lodged, particularly the OCEANIC BANK
where the deceased had his account valued precisely to be USD$ 18. million
dollar} The bank has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have
the account liquidated within the next twenty one official working days.
Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a national of same
country to stand in as the next of kin ,so that the fruits of this old man's
labour will not get into the hands of some group of corrupt government
officials who will get rid of the money and share it for their own selfish
interest and greed.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 2 years
now, I seek your prompt consent to present you as the next of kin of the
deceased since you have the same last name so that the proceeds of this
account valued at USD$ 18, Million can be paid to you and then you and I
can share the money according to any agreed ratio.
All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see this deal
through. I guarantee that this will be executed under legitimate arrangement
that will protect you from any breach of the law.
Looking forward to your swift reply.
Truly yours,
Barrister Morris Johnson.

I love the pizza thing. I may have to order me one.
Don
I'm surprised the 'Barrister' didn't throw in a few coupons for a free pizza. Oh, and congratulations on your new status as royalty. Should we call you 'Sir Snipe' now? Has a nice ring to it....
I wouldn't even have opened that e-mail, I'm always afraid there'll be a virus or something
I have spy ware galore that checks it first and so does google and the other is that bugs usually are located in attachments, I send those out to the laundry and if their ok they are sent back to me.
Hummmm SIR Snipe it does have a nice ring to it. Now I feel like pig pen from Charlie Brown who said it kinda makes you want to treat me with some respect now don't it?
Sir Don of Burlesonshire, Province of Texas
Well Don, did you find out if the deceased and you have the same last name? LOL
I'd reply with the phone number to the FBI or some other fraud agency! LOL
I never open anything from anyone that I don't know. It just goes straight to spam. But I had a laugh right along with you on this one. It reminded me of a lady that was on Dr Phil a few months back. What a wacko....she believed that this person loved her....and of course kept sending him money! Brother!!!
I went to the BBC site about the explosion I was unaware of it. It did indeed kill a 1000 people. I had to think to myself when the President of the country made the comment that they would have to find away to prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again, "duh" don't put a weapons depot in the center of town maybe.
Don
:-)
I get these sort of emails all the time...right to spam. Sometimes the subject tricks me into opening them - like they are writing about a dog I have for adoption. It seems the subjects are pulled from other email subject lines in my mailbox.
What a thought was funny was that they asked for your "honest cooperation" to do something illegal. ha, ha... I have written back to one of these before. The letter said something like 'my family is starving and I beg of you to help us to stay alive, etc.' I wrote back and asked them if they came up with some money, to please let me know because ironically my family was starving as well' It came back as undeliverable.
I love your answer Misty. That is priceless! We are on the national do not call list but we get call from solicitors all of the time. Hubby has found a way to thwart some of them. He just acts slow witted (which is true to some extent - but that this is a different story LOL) and keeps them on the phone as long as possible. The number of calls has dramatically decreased........ I wonder why?? I have never opened one of these emails either, but if I get to be Royalty I just might have to!
One os those scam artists actually sent a ck. to my SIL (gave FEDEX routing #, etc.) and then my dau. got on the net and told them that they were wise to them and would be turning the ck. over to the Bank of America fraud unit. During the middle of this discourse, the other person clicked off and that was the last they heard of them. Got the ck. the next day. LIZ
There's a funny scam running on my motorcycle site too. Well it was posted there to let people know anyway.
Someone, a real person, is bidding on motorcycles for sale with the "I will send a certified check" scam. The check is a fake. Anyway, one guy was playing around with the scammer and got him up to $100,000 as an offer on his bike for sale!! LOL!! The bike wasn't even worth $10,000. I thought that was hilarious even though I don't give them that much of my time!
