I often see DG er's quoting from a previous post in the same thread and it appears in bold blue and framed.
This is an excellent tool and I would like to know how it's done.
Thanks!
Quotes in bold blue and framed: how is it made ?
Here's a step-by-step answer to help you: http://davesgarden.com/faq/forums/#172
How can I put a blue "quote" box in a thread?
An indented blue "quote" box really makes a quote stand out within a thread. They can be used to highlight a direct quote taken from another site or a book or magazine, or even from another thread. Here's how to add one to your thread:
[quote] text
Sorry, I tried it with the instructions ,but it doesn't work.
I've typed first
, then copied and pasted the text of the instruction how to do it, then typed
I must be doing something wrong.
Terry,
Sorry again, now I'm really confused!
Does it mean that you have to re-type the text you want to quote ?
So you cannot copy and paste it in between the two
I've struggled with this too.
Here's how to add one to your thread:
copied and pasted from the instruction page
text
manually:
text
I keep wanting to use the angled brackets for html (bottom keyboard row), but they don't work. It must be done with the square brackets (next to the backslash). Then, between those brackets, type or paste the text you want to repeat.

Once more sorry, I still didn't capture the thing! It keeps surprising me!
What appears above is not what I actually typed.
I'm not a quick in mastering computer stuff
I think you can't have the double command the way html might allow. using your example at Post #3211811

(Added spaces where they shouldn't be just after the first bracket and just before the last so you can see the command.
Cheryl,
Thanks
our posts have crossed each other!
How is it that it is not the actual instruction text appearing in your example, only the word 'text' ?
The thing that gets me in trouble most often is that there's a space somewhere between the ] and what I want to type.
test
See the space between the ] and test? It shouldn't be there and it won't work if there's any spaces
Edited because it did work? I guess that blows my theory out of the water.

bonitin, If it's done correctly you can't see the commands. I added the spaces in my post above so you can see. Your first try was correct except that you added
so why isn't my bold command working now?

I'll try again:
