Is Dave's Garden ready???

Crossville, TN

I am now doubly-glad I live in Arizona.....sheeze! Jo

Daylight Savings Time will now start March 11, 2007.......and end Nov. 4, 2007

Note: DST is NOT observed in Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Arizona.

Be sure to read note at bottom about possible glitches in some programs, including Windows XP...

DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME AND COMPUTER GLITCHES
Some people may forget to change their clocks for daylight saving time. But computers and other gadgets are usually programmed to change automatically.

But this year, you could run into some hiccups. Why? Daylight saving time starts three weeks earlier and ends a week later. Programs that adjust automatically for daylight saving time may need patches.

So start planning, especially if you own a business. Vista won’t require a patch, although XP will. Microsoft plans to make the patch available in early March. For other programs and gadgets, check the manufacturers’ sites.

Hi Jo!

I'm glad you posted this, I just bought a new computer with a Vista operating system. I guess I won't have to worry about the time changes with this new system?

Thanks.

Oh yay!!!! Okay, adjusting to DST takes some getting used to, but to have that extra hour of daylight when the clock says it's "evening" is just plain wonderful!

Thanks for the reminder, Jo - I try to have a related question in the voting booth as reminder for the time changes, and the new date might have caught me by surprise ;o)

When my clock says 8 PM....it's BEDTIME for me...and I hate to go to bed before dark! LOL I have been known to be up after that time....but it has to be an interesting program.....or good company....besides Tessa! Jo

Supposedly the newer versions of XP will be okay - but I have to fix the time here every few days as it is now!

Not related to DG, but Microsoft Outlook recurring meetings that were established before the DST day changed have been affected & need changing. After the "folks in charge" backed the date up earlier, the outlook calendars weren't programmed for it, and meetings scheduled before the change that occur after the new day but before the old day need updating. :)

Did that make any sense? For me, it meant about a week of recurring meeting notices that had to be updated. hMPH

Wow, I didn't know DST was changing! Guess we'll be springing forward early this year :~) Thanks for the heads up, Jo.

I may not be keeping up to date with the DST news but is there a reason for the earlier start? I know I always think I'm late for work the first few mornings because the sun is actually rising:LOL:

Congress changed the date as part of an energy bill. It will save more fuel and energy.

Jo, I'm so glad you posted this. I had no idea the date had changed.
