Time on posts

Seems to be an hour off. Is it just me?

Hi, I had to readjust mine when we did the fall back time change...I had it Eastern Daylight and had to change it to Eastern Standard. Hope this helps

I have a feeling the time is reflected wherever the website is located (central time?).

I have 4:47 PM EST right now.

Edited to say it appears it is Eastern time now. Seems like in the past it was a different time zone. Maybe they should post the TZ as well as the date and time?

the edit time always comes up as that posters time, is that what you mean?

The time shown is always the time you set in your preferences.

The date on the server doesn't matter - it's not used or shown.

Thanks for the information Dave. I didn't know about this feature.

Edited to ask

Dave,

Do we have to change this preference twice a year? I just changed my preference to EDT and got the wrong timestamp so I changed it to EST and got the right timestamp. Do I have to change this each time the time changes?

Thanks to all! Now I can correct it and dinner will still be at 7 PM!

I'm sorry for the confusion.

I think the EDT setting is for those places that don't change for Daylight Savings Time. I know that different counties in Indiana used to ignore it, although I think they changed that this year. It was always so confusing driving through Indiana (from our home in Ohio to Grandma's house in Wisconsin) cuz we never knew what time it was! LOL

We go through it in our travels in Canada, too.
