This is a site with the information and how to get your money back. Numbers affected are on the lid of the product. These are products that are now in your pantry. I had one in mine that was already opened so they are still around. There is a long number but the first numbers of 2111 are the ones being recalled.
Check out the site and throw away if this is the batch retaining the lid to send in to the address given there.
A Peter Pan Peanut butter recall
I have had a fellow who thought he had stomach flu or even stomach cancer for the last few weeks helping me renovate around here. His regular 70yr old boss told him not to bring that 'bug' to work as old people got sick easier.
He's been eating Walmarts 'Great Value' Peanut Butter with 2111 on the lid. He broke down and cried with relief when he realized he's been steady poisioned for the last 3 weeks. The other brand with the 2111 number on the top of the lid is Peter Pan.

Yeah, with flu going on this time of year anyway, it is just assumed by people that it is what they have. Hope he gets over the Salmonella now that he will quit eating the stuff.
I have only had Salmonella once in my lifetime that I contracted from handling my pet snake. It sure ain't anything I would want to get again. It is very painful.
Bought 2 jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter at Publix - a buy one get one free deal. Checked both lids this evening and sure enough, the 2111 code was on the lid. Thank God the jars have not been opened yet.
I had a PB&J this morning made from peter pan PB with the 211 number. My daughter I had salmonella from a Wendy's hamburger and of course my DH who had chicken didn't and now it's not safe to eat peanut butter. What's a person to do?
Pray over your food.... I threw out 2 opened jars today with 2111 on them. Luckily not much of either was eaten since I started buying organic pb and these were just "emergency" jars. You can send the lids in for a refund.
My mother called me yesterday to tell me about this. She said....well, I might know what is wrong with you! LOL Then she told me to check my jar of Peter Pan PB. Sure enough, it has the code. I have felt rotten for almost a month...on & off and had no clue what could be wrong. For me, it's just been a nagging sickness.....not extreme at all. Now I know and I feel better knowing.
On the news last night.....people were complaining that sending the lid in for a refund would cost as much or more in postage than they would receive for the refund. LOL
I just put mine in a bubble envelope and mailed it with two stamps as I would a seed trade. LOL
I know my jar is a couple of dollars at least since it was a very large one. I don't know how they will decide on a good refund amount since there are all kinds of things to factor in.
Don't just assume it is the Peanut butter making you feel bad. You should probably see a doctor if it doesn't stop. I once felt lousy and it turned out I had an ulcer and needed a prescription to get over it.
Salmonella has terrible cramps that just make you not want to get out of bed or do anything, among other symptoms. It probably does mimic a lot of symptoms of an ulcer too.
I have one of the affected jars, and will send in my lid and discard the contents.
But I don't think anyone has confirmed there was actually salmonella in the p'butter - the recall is only a precautionary measure. This time of year, stomach viruses and "flu" make the rounds - it's more likely that any illness you suffer was contracted from a coworker, family member or the person coughing and sneezing behind you in line at the grocery store than from this product.
I had made a batch of cookies that went to school last week with Peter Pan, must have been OK. I got a refund on 2 jars from the store today.
Does anyone know if the recall is JUST on jars? This time of year I buy the 6lb. size Peter Pan at Sam's cause I put it out for the birds. That size comes in a cardboard type container and I've had no luck in finding out.
All containers with the code beginning with 2111. Check out the link in the first post.
Our local news had an added alert. They said if you had one of the 2111 jars AND definitely got sick, the health department would like to check it.
Mine is gone with the Friday's trash pick-up. But I don't think my Dh got sick and I didn't eat any.

thats why choosie mothers choose JIF!!!!
LOL
I agree with Terry I think alot of tummy illness will be blamed on PPan and without validation!
But i hope everyone feels better soon!!
I have always told my husband to try Jif. And after finding out I too told him, that's why choosey mother's choose Jif.
My Dh said he bets Jif is glad for the other's misfortune. There aren't any Peter Pan jars on any shelves in our area now. I doubt I will even buy it again.
When Diamond dog food had a problem with their products I just switched and have never bought it again.
We have a half eaten jar of Peter's famous 2111 peanut butter. Might as well eat the rest of it now since neither of us has been sick at all and the test results from both the FDA and Con-Agra show no salmonella anywhere in the samples.
Windy,
My mother says she remembers Bumblebee Tuna getting mixed with kitty food ages ago...wonder if she has that story right?
Had no idea DG had so many P. Pan eaters here...I am so glad you can all get better/feel safe/get refunded!

from the same statement: "Although Great Value peanut butter with the specified product code has not been linked by CDC to the cases of Salmonella Tennessee infection"
Ain't peanut butter. But many years ago I was an avid post raisin bran eater. One morning I was chowing down as usual and my eldest son ask me for a bowl so I whipped him out a bowl and me another and was scarfing that one down and my son said dad theres something moving in my cereal. My reply; shut up and eat. He repeated dad theres something moving in my bowl! Half ticked I took his bowl and sure enough there were wheat weevils my the hundreds and I ate a bowl and a half of the buggers. Seven years before I ate another bowl of cereal and only rarely at that.

I have emphasized to my pumpkins to always wash their hands after their bathroom trips and before eating snacks, yada, yada, yada! My girly pumpkin went with her dear dad to get a refund on our 2 large jars of Peter Pan, must not have been a "choosy mom" when I bought it. When Dad explains that the PB might be contaminated with Salmonella as to why he was receiving a refund she responds, in front of the cashier, "so... they forgot to wash their hands after their bowel movement, Daddy?".... E. coli....salmonella....it's the same to a pumpkin.. LOL! Yes, I'm one of those parents who gives correct terminology to body parts and germs.. ;0)
What a pumpkin. I love that. Out of the mouths of babes. ROTHLOL
Oh it sure did.
My oldest DGD has always loved to go to church. They were over on a monday and she wanted to go to church. I told her there was no church on mondays. They called (I hate past tense) their DGF my DH "Babe" . She was around 3 yrs old. She said " Babe the church is broke" I died laughing. Pastor still loves that.
I had the peanut butter as well and took it back to walmart where i got it at and they returned the money..although we did eat some of it, as of yet know one has got sick.
