What is the purpose of Gardens.com?

Belleville, IL(Zone 6b)

I am a little confused about Gardens.com. Is this a site for beginners, or is it going to be somehow different from Davesgarden? I just don't know how it fits in.
Is it a site that is free or do nonsubscribers have to pay to be there. Is it a part of Davesgarden? Just need a little clarification about it so I know how to use it.
I noticed that the forums there are also here.
I also see that Gardens.com is also a logo at the bottom of each page at Dave's. So is Davesgarden and Gardens.com one and the same?

Gardens.com is our front lobby, decorated all fancy-like, with friendly smiling faces ready to answer newbies' questions. It is free and all of the forums that it links to are also free in DavesGarden. The forums they see also pop up in DG, so that we can answer their questions... Gardens.com is designed for new folks who would be overwhelmed by ALL of the forums and ALL of the information that is here on DG. Hopefully as they learn more in there, they will eventually wander over here and join us. :-)

Hoping that made sense...

Very good Marylyn! I love your description of Gardens.com being the reception area for DG.

Yes, that made sense. I just am the curious sort and like to know exactly what is what. LOL
