Announcing the new TradeTracker!

Following right on the heels of Monday's launch of the TradeLists, I am pleased to announce today that the new TradeTracker has been launched!

It has been completely re-written from the ground up to provide the highest quality. It is now completely integrated into DG, so if you are trading with fellow DGers, it will use D-Mail for all communications. As before, however, if you trade with a non-DGer it will fall back to using regular email.

Trade creation and editing has been vastly simplified, and the process of marking trades as sent and received can now be done with a single click of the mouse.

Another additional feature of the TradeTracker is that it is now only available to DG Subscribers.

It appears as though it brought in my trades not received, but didn't bring in the trades I had marked as received. Not a big thing to me, but I thought I'd mention it in case that's not what it was supposed to do.

It was supposed to copy over everything (It worked for my tradetracker list, which had 127 trades, most marked as received). I'll look at your case soon.

I have nothing in my RECIEVED and SENT trades, it does show a total for each but nothing listed!

I think the NOT recieved and NOT sent are o.k.!!

Mine looks fine. Now I suppose I should trade something to see how the new format looks. LOL

Dave, there are strangers in my Trade Tracker! Seven of em. Don't know them at all and yet they appeared in blue links in the "Recipient" heading above the real recipient's name. I have lists of multiple items in each trade line. I don't know if they appeared because something in that list under "items to receive" coordinates with a "want" of theirs in Plant Files?

They are in both Not Sent, and Not Received categories. Just FYI.

Poochella, on Feb. 11 I posted that when I clicked on your trade list it brought me to my trade list! Do you think that it is my stuff that is in your's? There would be lot's of Hosta, Daylily and some other perenials!

Yes, I saw that post Sue. You get out of my tradetracker and, if you want to stay for a visit,- don't edit anything! LOL! I will Dmail you the names that have mysteriously appeared and see if you recognize them. It's only under the Names column. The plants and all else seems normal.

Standby for Dmail.

I think my visit is over now, and a nice vist it was!!!!

I found the whole thing VERY strange, there was all kind of wierd things showing up the first couple of days but I have not had any visitors.

Now I have to go back and put in every plant in my list, only about 600 more plant's to go, I guess it will keep me from spending money on ebay for a few days. LOL

I've been editing some trades this afternoon, and I suddenly noticed that the lists under "What are you sending them?" and "What are they sending you in return?" seem to have been reversed... I don't think I entered this information the wrong way around for every previous trade I put into the tracker! It's not a big deal, as it's pretty clear to me which lists are "send" and which are "receive," but I thought I'd mention it.

The other question I have about the trade tracker is whether it would be possible to turn off the automatic feature where it goes to a "your trade has been sent/received!" Dmail when I mark a trade as sent/received. I never use this feature, as I arrange most of my trades through Dmail, and for me it's simpler to keep all correspondence about a trade on the same Dmail thread. Being able to disable the feature would save me a couple of extra clicks to get back to the main trade tracker page... it's not a big thing, just a minor annoyance.

I am *really* loving the way I can start typing in a member's name and get a list of possibilities to click from -- saves some typing and also makes it easier when I can't quite remember if their user ID is Sally_FL or SallyinFL or SallyFL99. If you could possibly implement this same feature in the member list field for "jump straight to a member page," that would be awesome!

I was thinking the same thing about the dmail thing critter. I really like the feature, but sometimes I don't want to send dmail. I've been putting the ones I don't want to send in the drafts folder. I think it doesn't send them that way.

I've just been ignoring the Dmail page and using the back button on my browser to return to the trade tracker page... but I'd rather have it as an option that I could turn off altogether.

Question: how are our trades organized? Maybe I'm just missing it, but I can't figure it out. You can't use the top options to organize, it's not in alphabetical order, it's not organized by date.....is it just random? If so is there any way we can adjust that so that we could do it alphabetical or date sent etc? Mine seems to be completely random or I'm just missing it.

I was wondering the same thing... used to be able to click on the category at the top to order alphabetically, by date, etc... but it's just been random lately... I was assuming this was something that Dave was still getting the kinks out of.

I had that sorting question addressed by Terry last year; indeed clicking on the top Subject Header was to sort names alphabetically but it never did work for me. I tried prioritizing my traders names with AJohn, BJack, CJane etc and even that didn't work. I just gave up.

Clicking on the header used to work for me, before Dave started working on the tracker... I'm confident that he'll make it work again... meanwhile, I'm just scrolling down the lists.

Dave, I can't seem to find the "Prepare this page for printing" feature on my opened up Tradetracker page. Is that feature no longer in use? It was useful, but not impossible to work around.
