cactus...very lovley and such an acheivement for new mexico; i am in west texas so i am familiar with some of new mexico..

cactus patch, those roses are pretty nice looking cactus, lol :) I love them with the adobe!

Dale A ... you are a drive by garden shooter!!! I wish there were more gardens in our area to take photos of. A few of us garden, but not too many. Someone on the next street over has done a lot of work, should be beautiful this year. Around the corner lives a well-known garden designer, his garden is also a tumbling cottage garden full of suprises at every turn. I love your jubilant mixture, with pots of things growing in every single inch. Clearly you love plants :)

Thanks! Actually roses are very easy in the desert. They never need to be sprayed and don't get any diseases here unless you plant them under a tree and then let the sprinkler hit them! LOL! I have over 30 inside my stucco walls. Outside the walls are desert willows and cactus. Here is one that is blooming by my gate. It is commonly called a New Mexico rainbow.

This is my front garden. Please, tell me that it seems a cottage garden (just a little)

Well, I love it, so it must be cottage! What roses do you have in there?

castel sant'elia, Italy

I've got Sally Holmes,Geoff Hamilton,Evelyn (?),Mary Rose,Rosa Rugosa Scabrosa,Pink Grootendorst,Complicata and on the right side Ballerina.

Very nice! Salley, Geoff, and Ballerina are some of my favorites! A nice contrast between simple and large elegant blooms. Beautiful garden!

yk, Wow! Great Front Garden. So hard to get those to look nice ... that's why I don't have one ... well, except for that horrible curb garden I play around with.

You did a great job with getting a variety of height in such a small space. All the plants make your entrance so very welcoming ... in a Cottage Garden sort of way! :o)

I do like your front garden -it is so welcoming ,which is the essence of a cottage garden, isn't it.
I have Sally Holmes sprawling along rails ,and Mary Rose each side of a little walkway - how interesting to love the same roses from the other side of the world !

That's what I consider a cottage Yellowkid. Pat yourself on the ack and then post some more pictures for us to enjoy.

I finally have enough flowers that I can show a picture of them.

Very nice yellowkid. It looks very welcoming to me. If that's the front garden, do you have photos of a backyard garden?

castel sant'elia, Italy

Emelle.

Thank you all.Your kindness embarassed me.Toofew the trellis is for the peas. Emelle I h
ave broad beans and borage which I love. I'll soon send more photos. I'd like to see more pictures of your gorgeous gardens.

I think of Italy as having a mild climate -can you grow veges and flowers all year ?- your plants look healthy and happy.
Emelle

Yellowkid, your garden looks just like the beautiful vegetable gardens of the many transplanted Italians I knew in Canada.
I have been specializing in Italian vegetables and herbs this year at my market stall. They are impossible to find here.
Your garden is so lovely.
Front yard gardens have not been so prevelant in the US. Now more people have them, and less grass. I love yours. We have no grass in one area. I'm working on no grass in the next (we have two homes side by side).

Nash, I'd love to come sit on the bench. It looks relaxing and the flower garden is a lovely view.

Chris, Very nice. The side yard is especially pretty; it has a lush feel to it as I view the garden along the pathway. The shade and bench look inviting for a hot summer day.

Yellowkid, your flowers are beautiful.

Chris, the shady cottage area is what I am trying to achieve here. You have certainly mastered it!

Yellowkid, your roses are beautiful. They look so pretty lining the pathway - just like a painting.

Everyone's garden pics are just beautiful. I couldn't resist posting one of mine. Although it really doesn't compare...it's not as full as the others. But I've enjoyed putting it together. :)

Annie, You are at one of the most exciting parts of gardening ... the beginning when you get to first choose what is going where, waiting for those plants to fill in ...
anticipation!

Great pictures everyone ... Yellowkid, do the roses smell as nice as they look?

Chris, your garden is really doing well. I hope someday my shade gardens look as nice as yours.

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

Toofe,
Thanks for the encouragement!
Annie
