Thought we could try this way with out the date in the title, maybe it would be less confusing. When it gets filled we'll go to Page 2.

nice shots Pelle. I had a very active day today with us heading into the deep freezer again
Donna, Next week we're supposed to break and 11 year record for LOW temps!! YIKES!!
Good ones, Pelle. I've gotten home too late to get any photos the past 2 days. Looking forward to catching a few tomorrow morning. (Oh, and thanks for starting this new thread. )

we are not breaking any records but mid 20's we don't get to often. This will be the 3rd time this season, a month or so ago, last week and now Sunday morning although they bumped it back up to 28 from 25 predicted yesterday
Well thats really cold for your area.
Sun,Mon and Tues. we're supposed to have a low of 12 degrees!!!
Imagine if its windy those days, grrr and Brrr!
brrrr couldn't deal with that
Pelletory, I like your idea of just calling it "daily pics" and then going on when it gets full.
Great photos!!!!! And oh my, that is darn cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a thread earlier on my Varied Thrush, but today I actually saw one in the feeder - usually they are just on the fence. Ever since the snow and cold spell, they've been coming to the feeders - even the suet feeder although they have trouble hanging on!
Nice pic Murmur! I love the greenery draping all around the feeder, looks very nice.
Lily: That titmouse appears to be in "alert" mode. :)

I thought so too Deb!
The look on his face made me chuckle out loud!!! Great shot.
Really nice pics guys!
He looks mad. If they were bigger, I'd be scared.
;->
Deb
great pics you all. I sure wish I had a varied Thrush. It is so beautiful
Gosh I can't believe how busy it was here since I went to work this morning for just 5 hours. :-)
Hey, we love your idea of daily pics!
I didn't take any today though so it will probably be a few days before I get any more.
I can't believe how much thistle I'm going through with this bitterly cold weather.
Lily, I've seen the Jays do that a lot with the peanuts; maybe their weighing them to take the heaviest one, lol.
I've been working during prime photo hours so I haven't been able to get any decent pics.
How cold has it been for you up in NJ Pell? It was really cold here and than warmed up a little so the snow we got was wet and didn't stick. Yick.
I have totally enjoyed watching the birds at my new set up. But my tray that has all the peanuts and raisins in it has a big flaw. The mockingbird has gotten his tootsies stuck in the mesh on the bottom twice! I was so afraid he would break a toe trying to yank it out while flapping his wings like crazy (unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that) I looked at it more closely today and realized that I had hung it upside down. So I hung it the other way and there is a piece of wood across the middle that the birds can stand on. WHEW!
That jay reminded me a lot of my grandmother who used to be very embarrasing to be in the produce section with... she was this little old lady who didn't speak english very well and would poke and shake and smell all the fruit and veggies she was interested in.

LOL, thats so funny (but frightening) about the screen platform feeder. When I get mine I'll have to make sure I do it correctly.
Tomorrow its supposed to be 12 degrees!! If theres any wind it will feel a lot worse. Today was bad with wind.
This was a downy that visited the rustic suet feeder after I added some fresh made this morning. DH got this one.
Sheila, I love that feeder!! I'll have to go scouting around my yard looking for something similar.
I am loving seeing all of the photos of the birds that we don't have but I can see posted by my DG friends. Wonderful Birding Forum. Can't wait until Hummer season!!
I forgot to preview, and missed your post about the feeder. Someone gave us the idea on a earlier thread. It is a recycled Christmas Tree. Of course I didn't have a real tree and had to pick up a small one from a friend, but it works!

Sheila, That pic of the wren coming out of the barbecue is hysterical!! :-)))
Great pics everyone!!
Lily ~ are those roasted peanuts or raw? I need to get some so my jay won't have to hang on the seed feeders, don't know why they won't eat the sunflowers seeds from the hanging platform feeder.
Deb ~ love the look on that Mockingbird, I've got one that eats from my suet feeder occasionally, maybe I should put some fruit out too
Shelia ~ that wren is too cute! Is the limb, with the suet on in, hanging or is it stuck in ground? I think I need to go scouting too.
Murmur ~ the varied thrush is lovely. I really enjoy getting to see new birds, we just seem to have the same ones here all the time.
We had a couple of inches of snow yesterday and it was so cold here today, 13 with a wind chill of 1, it's supposed to be very cold for the next week and I realized this afternoon that I'm almost out of feed, the feeders will be empty by morning so I guess I'll be making a trip to town.
Here's a pic from this morning of a Jay hanging on one of my regular feeders, usually he just does a fly by, snatching a sunflower seed as he goes...he hung on the feeder long enough for me to get several pics.
Nice pic sadie! I can't believe how many Jays I'm seeing at one time now that I put peanuts in the shell out.
I think mine are roasted but unsalted.
