Personal Stickies

Dave,
something that would be nice for me. . . I have several favorite forums . . . when I go online I have to look way down to find them. For instance, I love the Recipe Forum . . . is there some way I could "stickie" it so it is on top when I come into DG?

Ah, yes, I've wished for such a thing also. I finally had to pare down the number of watched forums so I could find the ones I needed easier.

Yes.... although I realize there's a certain logic to having the forums with the most recent posts on top, I'd rather have my list of forums in an order that I can specify, with the ones I visit most often at the top. It's easy to see quickly if there are new posts on the forums, thanks to the useful "New?" column on the right, so it would still be easy to know if something had been added to my favorite forums since I last dropped in.

Strongly agree. I would like to specify the order in which all my 'watched' forums are displayed.

I agree, I often thought they should be in our own order of preference.

Personal stickies? I like that idea, Arlene. I have so many favorite forums and watched threads, it would be great to be able to specify a top 5 or something along those lines.

I would think it could be manipulated in the "My Information" section.

I am continually amazed at the things we members come up with, meaning suggestions for Dave-to make our site more "user friendly";but, what amazes me even more is the number of times that I see the post from Dave that says, "DONE!"

I know I, alone, am lax in telling him and the other admins. how much I appreciate all they do, to accomodate us,but I'd like them to know, right now, that:

It's easy to forget that sometimes simple-sounding ideas are all but impossible to implement because of the way the site is structured. On the other hand, sugestions that we thought might not be feasible (like putting "return to Dave's Garden Forum" rather than just "return to forum" as one of the options when you submit a post) were done seemingly in an instant!

So, I figure -- it doesn't hurt to ask!

And this particular suggestion might need to be kicked around a little more... I'm sure there are plenty of folks who are big fans of the current system where the "favorite thread" with the most recent post gets bumped to the top of the list.

Actually, that system worked fine for me at first, because I didn't have such a long list... but as new forums are added and as older forums are splintered into different topics, it's harder to stay focused. I'd rather be able to find "forum X" as the 5th forum in my list every time I log on, rather than have it migrate around depending on how active it is. The most active forums aren't necessarily where I want to go first! :-)
