Google's version of Paypal

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Is anybody familiar with this tool on Google? Anybody use it? I'm reading that it is way better than Paypal but I don't know anything about it. Your input will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hmm.

This is a new one on me. I'll check it out, but likely won't switch.
Not because the Google version is not good, but there are always
unknown bugs in the beginning of a program release. Paypal sure
went through their share of them, but I've been with them for a good
time now and am quite happy.

Thanks for sharing, I'll have a look at it.

I think this is it
http://checkout.google.com/sell?promo=sha2

hubby bought something on ebay and he received a google bill. that's all I know about it so I posted here to get some input from those in the know.

Thanks vossner I appreciate that.

Don

The deal is that it's free for all of 2007 to the seller, so they don't have to pay fees like they do with PP. But Ebay won't allow it on their site for sales, because obviously, they are competitors.

andidandi do you think its because Ebay owns Pay Pal?

Don

Yes, that's what I meant by competitors. They claim it's a buyer safety issue, but clearly it's because they would lose the PP fees.

Not big on customer service, so I will not use Google.Checkout again.

unfortunately, item hubby purchased never showed up so he filed a dispute w/ google. After completing and faxing 3 pages' worth of questions, their response: "go to your credit card company", which we've done so we're not out anything.

edited to clarify: Google offers no buyer protection. Telling you to go to your CC co. is not buyer protection!

Vossner-

Report the non-receipt of the item AND include payment method violation. You should report the seller for both. Did you ask the seller to replace the item? Don't buy the "I'm not responsible for lost shipments" thing. It's not true.

sorry andi, need to clarify more. Yes, we did report seller on ebay for non-receipt and pmt method violation. Seller never responded to any communications. Google.Checkout said to go to our CC. Negative feedback posted on ebay. Item in question was a DVD recorder. In the end, we've been kept whole, but whole thing just a hassle.

I want TEVO! ( or equivalent) lol.
