I was trying to find an audio of the northern shoveler- on my CD it kinda sounds to me like 'shovel-shovel, shovel shovel" (using some imagination) and kind of a funny sound. I'm trying to make it sound like it's name. On my CD, the red tail hawk screams tail, all one long sylable, while the redshoulder is shoulder, two syllables, don't know if that holds up in reality.
Above link is mnemonics to bird calls. I gotta love the mallard one.......
Common Merganser
female
Yep, your turn now!
Bonus point for anyone who can give the UK name for Common Merganser
Resin
Goosander
Yep!
I'll go for female Orchard Oriole
Resin
Would be nice to see it's side or back, lol.. Linth, do you have another view? And Ben wants to know where the picture was taken.
I was going to say Bullock's Oriole
Ben says Orchard
I will go with Ben and Resin Orchard Oriole...
OK, first-summer male O.O.!
Resin
Resin, you got it !!! I am relatively new at bird identification and this one confused me until I talked to some "experts". It's difficult to believe that it goes from this coloration to that of the mature male Orchard Oriole. I suppose if not for the black chin patch the male and female would look similar during the first year.
Common Wood Pigeon ???
Yep, Wood Pigeon
Tennessee Warbler?
Sorry, nope . . .
Photo taken in Northumberland, UK
Resin
Juvie Painted Bunting?
Edited to say, What a bad guess...lol!
Garden Warbler?
