When will the College Station Roundup be this Spring?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Dear Dave, we are wondering when the Roundup will be held this Spring.
Since yours is The All Texas Roundup, it should have priority, then we can all plan our local ones around it

I dunno... I think I want to take a furlough from organizing roundups. Maybe someone else wants to volunteer to make it happen?

Hmmm.....I live in Bryan and would be happy to organize this roundup. Never done it before, but there's a first for everything!

Kim,

I'd be willing to give some advice and help in some small areas (and of course if we did the roundup I would certainly attend!)

Also, I'd be willing to dmail all the Texas members and try to get a better showing at this one. :)

I'm just thinking of some of the events that might keep people from coming....

March 17 - Women of Faith National Conference in San Antonio
March 24 - Mercer Arboretum - March Mart
March 31 open
April 7 is the day before Easter
April 14 - Master Gardener State Conference in Kerrville

Anyway, those are all I know about. Others might have some other info that I don't have.

I'll be there whenever it is if it is in CS! Just make sure it's not a cold, windy, rainy day! LOL

Good thinking cj. I believe last year we held it the last weekend of April, perhaps later is better? I think we should try to sort out a date as soon as possible before everyone's schedules fill up for the spring. Dave, thanks so much, I will need all the help I can get. I will post over on the TX forum to look for a possiible date and see when people are available.

Thanks, Kim

Thanks for offering to step up Kim! I would be willing to contribute for the rental of the pavillion we have been using. It was a great place with close parking.

One consideration as to the date is hotel availability if something big is happening in CS, but Kim could check on that.

We wouldn't have to have a meal furnished like before, just bring snacks and sweets. There are loads of places to eat there before or after the RU.

Here was a pic of our Spring group last year in CS.

And Sheila is the one next to Frostweed. I'm the one behind Smockette. LOL!!!!!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL CJ!!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Got those T-shirts ready, Marylyn?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I have the transfer paper all ready!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

LOL!!! I am looking forward to it, and haven't booked any cruises or bought any airplane tickets. Yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that I can be there!!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

Early is better for me. I don't want to have to wait until fall to plant things I get because it's too hot and things don't have time to get going before our Texas "oven" is turned on to bake everything. But I can't make it on March 31, prior commitment.

Add April 14 - Master Gardener State Conference in Kerrville.

ceejaytown, when is the Houston MG conference? I think I have two dates for that (both the 15th and the 25th?) We don't want the roundup to coincide with that! :)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Are you talking about the 2008 Texas State Conference that is being held in Montgomery County - the one at which you have agreed to speak? That is scheduled for April 24-26, 2008. Keep April 25, 2008 circled on your calendar! That is next year.

This year's Conference (2007) will be held in Kerrville April 12-14.

And please don't let the RU coincide with either one of them. Please....

Chuckling. :) I'm glad I clarified on that one. :)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Whew...... LOL!!!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Would April 28th work for you guys?

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Works for me. :-)

Works for me, also.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, is there anything big at TAM that weekend? Any date is fine with me, just want to make sure those that need to stay over can get rooms.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

28th works for me too, so far atleast.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Sheila....I am not seeing anything big here on the schedules....most of the sports are done by then and that is the weekend before finals. So most students should be studying. I will check into the area too and see if anything big is coming to College Station, but I doubt it.

:) Kim

It sounds like that's a good date. It works for me, too.

Great Kim! Thanks for checking on it.
