Nice effects Debin! She's purdy!
Actually I'm not surprised.. the water is made with special hummie sugar. Warbler doesn't drink from the other birds water either, they get a lot of water in the mealies and buggies they eat, and she sure likes this.
Show Me Your Feeders Pt. 3
What a pretty warbler, and a nice series of photos, too!
Hi--I'm new to this forum and I've been enjoying everyone's pictures immensely! Thought I would share just a few of mine--this is our basic setup. Our family is new to feeding birds, but the birds we've had at our feeders include chickadees, white-breasted nuthatches, titmice, goldfinches, house finches, downy woodpecker (I think), red-bellied woodpecker, blue jays, cardinals, various sparrows and juncos. I'm looking forward to the spring to see what will come our way then.
Niere, is that a slinky with peanuts????? Where on earth did you come up with that??? It is too cool! Nice set up you have just outside your window. Love the drive thru too!
Oh and Debinsc, no snow here anymore. That was taken a couple weeks ago.
edited to ask....Did anyone have an idea as to the ID on the bird I posted back a few? (Between the doves and kinglet)

Welcome to the forum Niere !!! :-)
Shelia looks like it is a Brownheaded Cowbird female
Really, I have seen those before, guess I was thinking it was too early for them and didn't even consider that one. I think the males scout out the territory first, but that may have got scraped due to the cold fronts we have had this year. Thanks
"Niere, is that a slinky with peanuts?????"
Sheila--LOL! It DOES look like one, doesn't it!? I'm afraid I can't take any sort of creative credit for that--I picked that up at the local wild bird chain store. I don't know if they carry them all the time, but I know they had them out before the holidays in red and green and I think they are supposed to resemble a wreath. It is essentially a coated slinky with hooks on both ends that fasten to a main anchor that you hang from your hook, branch or what have you. I agree--they are pretty cool looking :D and the blue jays, woodpeckers and even the titmice are able to pull the peanuts out fairly easily.
Sorry I can't help with the bird id--I'm drawing a total blank with it. Could it be some kind of finch??
Thanks for the welcome pelletory! :D
I agree Donna- Cowbird.
Niere, I've seen that feeder before, its pretty neat.
Agree Cowbird Sheila!

Nice pic Deb!
Very good Deb!!
As always, I am really enjoying all of these feeder pictures. I also especially enjoy seeing the warbler ones posted as I am very unfamiliar with warblers (except for the yellow rumped). If I saw one at the feeder I would probably chalk it off as something "sparrowy" or "finchy" lol. Having a camera certainly helps with identification since you can crop and blow the photo up. Thanks again for posting everybody.
Here are a few from my house. I put a new feeder up closer to my front picture window and filled it with irresistable goodies for the fruit and nut lovers. :-)
Here are a few of a mockingbird. This was the first bird to glom on to the feeder. Here its watching me, a bit apprehensive but not wanting to leave and give up this treasure trove lol.
Beautiful pics lily!! Where did you get the feeder??
LOL!!!
Pics are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Isn't it great having the feeder closer to the window?
Wow what a great variety you have for them, your such a good bird mommy!!!!
Great pics! Love that Mock'
Such a face!
Deb(inSC)
Thanks - it really is great having a feeder closer to the window! I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. :-) We have been having workmen around the house every day working on remodeling our bathroom so the birds haven't been around that much. But today the guys didn't stay long and the birds ventured back YAY!
Here is a Carolina Wren that also snuck in for a quick peek.
I know this isn't a feeder but I just had to share this with you all! Isn't this a wierd ice formation?! I just can't imagine how it was formed!! I thought it was a bird when I looked from the house - then I got the binoculars and had to run out with the camera when I realized it was ice. I think it looks like an "ice cobra" coiled up in the bird bath. the remodeling guys had to run over and look at it too lol!
LOL!!
lily, How long can you leave that fruit out now that the weather is cold?
I can't wait to get this type of feeder. I think once the ground thaws I'll ask the DH to bring the pole/baffle even closer to the house. I have regular shepheards hooks w/o baffles right near the windows but theres the squirrels to think about and right now I just put thistle and hummer feeders on them.
Pelle you can find those feeders at Lowes
Okay Thanks Donna!
I have a question, are you going outside for the photos or taking some of them thru a glass?
I am glad I marked this thread. I haven't posted any pics yet but I am enjoying yours.
Teresa
Lily! What a cool ice formation! The pics of mockingbird , wren, finch, and titmouse are superb!
More great pics Debin! I love those!
Weclome aboard Niere! I like how your feeders are by the window, you have some very cool gadgets!
Stepping out to take Bennie to school yesterday I heard this very familiar igh pitch shrilling sound (sounds kinda like a dog whining). I have been listening to the sounds of certain birds over and over so that I would quickly recognize them and know what to look for. Well there they were, a small flock of Cedar Waxwings in the neighbors tree directly across the street>> I am waiting to see if they will come in closer and take the dried cherries from my tree in back by my window..
Here is the sound> http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Cedar_Waxwing.html#sound
If you hear it look up in the trees around you. You might see something like this:
