Garden Watchdog Ratings question

I wanted to post a rating to a company that I'd already posted a rating for back in 2005. I recently had an experience with this company that caused me to want to post a rating different than the one I previously posted. I couldn't find anywhere where I could post a different rating other than updating my original rating. I did that, but instead of it showing my recent rating, it still shows up in the chronological position it held previously.

It seems to me, if you can't make a separate post, anytime a rating is updated to reflect a recent experience, it should show up in the chronological position of when it was posted. If you don't click to see all ratings, you would never see my recent rating, and never notice that it was made that way because of a current experience.

Also, when a rating is changed, does the company receive notification of this?

Well, now. I just got a bit of this answered. I've heard from the company. It seems that both of the e-mails that I used from their website go to the owners specifically and they are traveling at the moment. The general manager saw my updated rating post and contacted me just now. Now THAT was fast!

I would still like to hear a comment from DG about the first part of my above post.

You can post an update, and change the rating, if warranted. (Sometimes people just want to post that their subsequent purchase was as good as the first one, so no rating change is necessary.)

To do this, find the company's entry and scroll down until you come to the area where you normally see the link to add a comment. If you've already rated them, the link will now indicate you can click on it to update your previous comment.

Yes, I know. And that's what I did. But it seems like an experience and rating change that I had now should show up in the order that I posted it chronologically. The way it is now, someone reading through the ratings would see mine from 2005 and think, "Well, that was two years ago" and not even read it, thereby missing the 2007 rating change.

I agree with kbaumle, it would be nice if edited ratings popped up to the top so people could see the latest info--companies do sometimes change over time and with the way it works now, many people will never see your edited comment that shows the company has changed (for better or for worse). I understand the reasons for not letting people make multiple entries for any given company, but I think if edited posts could be pushed back up and show up chronologically by edit date rather than original date that would be helpful.

I asked Dave about this a while back, and unfortunately it would involve a major re-writing of the code beneath the GWD to have updates "bubble up" to the top.
