Welcome to the forum flowerdr!!
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
I don't have any great pictures of this bird, but I have a funny one. It cracks me up the way the different birds pop up to make sure everything is safe around them. Sometimes when we have several birds in the platform feeder, they remind me of the game "Whack a Mole".
We had two pairs of the Rose-breasted Grosbeaks earlier, but yesterday I only saw the female. So maybe they are nesting near by.
Oh, for some reason my youngest child call these "bib spills". It does look like they were a little messy with the cherry Kool-aid.
congrats if they are nesting near you. They are one of my favorite migrating visitors
Wow...Love the beautiful pictures!!
We get quite a few, males & females, that usually hang around all Summer. I've never had much luck getting pictures, though. Guess I'll have to break down one of these days and get a camera with a better zoom.
They spend a lot of time at our feeders... their favorite is sunflower seed, but they also really like safflower seed, especially from tray feeders or tube feeders that have attached trays. They also enjoy having a birdbath nearby or other water source & our whole area has mature trees which they love.
Please keep the great pictures coming.
Sweet pic CB!
I've only ever seen a female in my yard.
First time I saw the colorful bird, it knocked me off my rocker to fumbling for the camera. lol CB, your child's description is totally accurate. It's a delight to see thing via a child's eyes.
seen one of these yesterday perched on a bird feeder hanger on my deck.only for a few seconds and then flew away.got a quick picture i'll have to post it later.had the camera out because i was taking pictures of the orioles on my hummingbird feeder.i have never seen either of the birds before.yesterday was a good bird watching day! the orioles were back today also :)
That is great queen! Looking forward to seeing your pic.
