Sometimes, less is more

Shocking Beauty and Jewel Box Garden by Thomas Hobbs are my two favorite sit down and drool books. I want gardens like his. Someday I hope to tour his garden, he lives in Vancouver.
But your gardens are drop dead gorgeous datdog, I love gardens where you stroll along grass to view all the beds. I just need the property to do that, Kell and I are so limited size wise in the real estate here. But we sure try to over collect as if we had the room! Poor plants, so many of mine never get a chance to reach their full potential in pots. Sigh...

Your yard is so beautiful! Now I have renewed hope for mine.
I have some brugs growing from seeds you were so kind to
share with me last year. I am so excited after seeing yours!.
I hope they bloom this year for me. If they look like your I
will be in heaven.
Thanks again for the seeds

Lovely Kristi... indeed... I'm a bit confused just were does the lesscome in there... I see you have devoted some space to mayebe 5 billion grass plants.. forming a lovely lawn... other than that excessive planting.. I don't see any less.. oh.. perhaps fewer brugs than you might have... your constant flowering pink is a real focal point though standing tall at the back of the view from the front ...
Yes.. lovely escargot... even still holding on in the winter view... I saw a real gigantic one growwing in an orchid nursery in the hills of Panama... so I tried one here.. but I must have bought the type Kell has.. or I need way more humidity than available.. here... thanks for the memories of summer... Paul Yes, a spring get together and we need to plant shop! Beautiful Pink thank you for growing it.

Kell I'll track the picture down. Mine only stayed red for the early part of the spring then it turned green.

Calif_Sue I'll take your small lot size for the weather you have. I'm going to check out the books- can't wait to see them.

steph_gem Thank you! I first became interested in gardening when I lived in San Diego. We lived right on the ocean so not much would grow for me. I miss it terrible and wish we would have stayed.
Fish Thank you!
Linda your very welcome. Just jam pack your beds with plants and you'll get the look :)

Gordon Are you going to rain on my parade? LOL :) There is so much less planted in that front bed from years past. (I'm going to find you a picture) I ripped out about 20 perennials and I've cut back on my annuals. In years past that whole front bed looked like a jungle and was very unkept and U-G-L-Y about July time frame. I've already started to plan the look for this upcoming season. No new perennials will be added but lots of tropcials. Sadly, I have to keep the grass because of small kids or there would be NO grass :)

Gorgeous yard, Kristi. Your pictures makes me want to go pull weeds and plant something.
Thanks for the pictures.

Kristi, as always, your yard is gorgeous. I love plants of all varieties as well, but our hot South Texas heat isn't very conducive to growing a lot of the ones that are my favorites. It doesn't seem to matter if you have more or less, every picture you have ever shared with us looks as if it came out of a garden magazine or book. They sure made my day on this cold dreary day we are having. Guess I shouldn't complain though, as it is nothing compared to a lot of the rest of the country.
