can't post picture

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

when I press preview it just stays there and never posts the picture.

Could you reboot your computer and then try again?

On dial up I find it can take minutes for images to upload to dave's. I just play solitare on top and eventually It appears.

It sounds like you may be trying to download too big a picture. Try 600 X 450 pixels, this works for me. ☺

I don't know what that means...I have a new camera and am wondering if it has something to do with that...I will try an post an OLD picture and see if that works. Thanks

I was able to post another picture...it must have been the way I transferred these last ones onto my computer. I still have no idea why but thanks again.

Photos that are larger than 1000 x 800 pixels are automatically resized by our system (but that doesn't mean it's easy to get them to upload - those are really big files.)

We recommend 800 x 600 or even 640 x 480 pixels for photos uploaded here.

Your new camera should come with photo editing software that lets you easily resize the image before saving it. If you still have problems, you may want to consider switching from .gif to .jpg format when you save the photo - it's a lower resolution, but the files are significantly smaller.

You may find the Photography forum is a good place to ask questions about a new camera and the ins and outs of saving and submitting photos: http://davesgarden.com/place/f/camera/all/

This has happened to me too, when I tried to upload a picture that was too big. If you resize it smaller, it works.
