What's the best variegated brug?

Cave Creek, AZ

Azreno, Hi I have a greenhouse, a huge arizona room and a huge laundry room filled with shelves and lights for the plants.I have 2 brugs, no 3, a friend just gave me one. This week 1 is in the green house and I think the other one is going there so it gets more light.
I know we are 10 degrees colder that Bell Road. I'm sure we're 15-20 degrees colder than Mesa. I'm in the town of cc not the road. We're at about 2500 feet out in the desert with no thermal masses. We don't even have paved roads...very quiet and I have lots of space...

I see Maya is being offered on Ebay by Country Gardens: http://cgi.ebay.com/Brugmansia-Angel-Trumpet-MAYA_W0QQitemZ220069434946QQihZ012QQcategoryZ25463QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have purchased from this vendor before, and she is just terrific!! As a matter of fact, I just purchased a Velvet Rose from her the other day :-)

Hope this helps someone!

You know, I would bid on that if I knew that it could make it here without freezing. Someone once told me that priority mail uses the heated compartment of the planes and I could have them hold it at the post office for me so it didn't sit in my mailbox.

Well.. Thanks Clare.. Idid follow your link to Snowbank http://www.karcheskycanna.com/ ..you have tocall in the order... Solast Thursday afternoon Icalled... andless than two days later i was here...itcame wrapped nicely.. many different layers of newspaper.. and small buble wrap.. Yes priority mail it was... and yes the compartments for this are heated on the plane.. theweak link is the airport placing them on the plane... and what happens upon delivery.. other wise... Ibelieve you canship them through most of the winter.. but this is what arrived.. a lovely short but realstout plant ..with lots of the clasic Snowbank leaves... suchabeauty...even without the flowers.. but they willsurely come easily from such a strong start..

Here is a pic of Maya that I bought from www.seedsprout.com on Jan 6, 2006. This is what it looked like immediately after taking it out of the shipping tube! Fantastic deal if you ask me.

This cold snap has been just horrible, I imagine nurseries should have a great year in 2007 LOL I've been seeing everyone's compliments to seed sprouts plants, I'm planning to get my Maya there, too, want to start off with a nice healthy plant.

Clare,
Will it come back. I can't believe it got so cold there in Zone 10b.

Thanks, Lynn and Jan. Jan, I think all the damaged ones will come back, provided we don't have anymore temps at freezing and below like we just did. It looks like only 'Ecuador Pink' is having branch dieback, but the branches and trunks of the others look okay for now. I can't believe it either. It is a record for this area. It usually stays in the 40's at night all winter with an occasional dip into the mid- to high 30's for a few hours in the early morning before the sun comes up.

I'm going to look for another variegated since I probably lost Miners Claim in the freeze. This thread has been very handy for future decisions. Thanks all!
