Here is another Pic . of Penguins .
Visitors to My Garden.....(continued)
Have you any idea what they were doing under your deck?
Lost I think .
Sheltering from Wild Animals ?
I`m not really sure .
Not seen them again .
Shelter from predators makes sense. They really aren't equipped to get away from dogs and such.
Too true .
They can`t fly .
Could you attach kites to them to see if they might be able to attain lift ;)
I have still not seen one .
It`s only what my Spy camera detects after dark .

Is the land of OZ near where these cave lovers and nest diggers like to nest at this this time of year? You may have a REALLY nice nest box there.
From Mark's site- "In Australia, the strongest colonies are on cat-free and fox-free islands". Looks as if you all have problems with feral and stray cats too. I didn't realize we Americans gifted you some nice NA fox to goggle up your wildlife too. Big bummer.
Our main predator is the Dingo .
It roams ALL of OZ .
Just found this link to the story .

He looks like he's grinning in that pic.
He is grinning ,
I told him you won't be getting your Puter till after Xmas .
He thought that was funny . lol
Looks like an insurance salesman.
Ok, I have posted twice and it's not showing. Even hit send. lol
Well it worked that time ???
Yeah, it did. I think I need to unhook this and climb on the roof and give it a good talking to. lol
What kind of a spider is that? Love the color!
Reminds me of the red crawdad I saw this morning.

What is a Crawdad ?
Can you eat them ?
My dad was a Crankydad ? Is that similar ?
Awesome spider, Triangular Spider - Arkys lancearius
I took time to look at it. I like this kind of stuff.
Crawldad, crawdad, crawfish. They are like lobster except usually brown or black and can be found in fresh water. I will try to find a link to it tomorrow unless Equil finds one before then.
Good on you Eqi.
But I thought your favourite subject was Toilets ???
If it is then she can have my job. LOL
A very sad thing happened in my garden today .
It is so upsetting that I will not post up a Pic. here .

Was that one of your parrots?
No Pep ,It was a Wild , Top Nut Pigeon .
Ah. It was a little hard to tell the way he's laying there.
He was probably on his way home when he saw what he thought was a short cut .
Allas , It was a reflection of the sky behind him in the window .
Broke his neck instantly .
The sound it made was very scary .
I thought a car had run into the house .
It was very very loud . Poor little fella RIP .
I've had that happen before. I do not have my windows professionally washed any longer, I have mini blinds that I keep in the down position but cracked in hopes that in some light birds might see that they can't fly in, I keep my window screens up year round, I moved a birdfeeding station to a less open area with lots of cover so that if a raptor swoops in birds don't fly off in a panic into a window, we've got sun catchers on the outside of our atrium doors, and I also have streamers nailed over some decorative windows because they blow in the gentlest of breeze and create a reflection that lets birds know there is a window there.
If people can leave up Christmas lights and Halloween decorations year round; I can leave my windows dirty, mini blinds down, and screens up year round.
The sun catchers and the streamers are not all that attractive but I gotta tell you they are probably the single greatest deterrent. I've not had one death in that area since adding all those goodies. Other than that, they are definitely great conversation pieces.
Equil, we don't wash our window much either. We have to wash sometimes so we can see out them since we live on gravel but not much. We also have a valance and a hanging plant in the window to break up the expanse. Once we did all that we quit having so many birds hitting the window.
But at work it's a different story. At the chapel we have to wash the windows all the time so people can't tell if we are inside or out. When they ae that clean we get alot of birds on the sill because they hit the windows. This morning I found a Ruby-throated hummingbird dead because he hit the window. It was a sad sight to see. We also have problems with people running into those windows. lol. Sometimes they hit so hard that it's a miracle that the windows don't break. Or noses. lol
I like the sound of the ppl running into the doors .
They should know better .
The glass is most probably ' Toughened ' .
As long as there is glass birds will fly into it.
Too true Stelco .
It still pains me to see this happen .
The window is 28 feet up in the Sky light area .
Too darn high to clean . So it is generaly a bit Streaky / Dusty .
