Site very slow?

The last 3 days or so, I have had a terrible time with the Dave's entire site. Today, it has taken me almost 9 minutes to load the site, and click on the discussion forum to post this question.

I am not having any problems accessing any other sites on the web. Just Dave's.

If it is just me, I doubt there is anything I can do since all other sites are working fine.

I use a fast Mac Mini (but have a dial up connection) and use the latest version of Safari. I had problems Friday night at work, where we have a very fast connection, and I also use a Mac with Safari, but it's not as new or updated as I have here at home.

Is anyone else having this problem in the last few days?

edited to say that it took over 4 minutes just for my message to "preview".....

The site is running a little slower than usual today because I'm running the "end of the year" reporting on the server. It should be finished within an hour.

It did come up normally for me this time when I tried.... meaning the site came up in a few seconds.

Whew! I'm glad it's back to normal.

It shouldn't have been slow over the past few days. In that event, I'm guessing it might be your ISP or your computer.

It's actually been running pretty snappy for me these past few days...

It's been running a bit slow for me the last few days too but so have a lot of the other sites I visit--I think a lot of people are off work and spending more time on the internet than they usually do (or at work but surfing the net instead of working since who feels like working over the holidays!) so it clogs things up a bit.

Ours was running funny for a while. Kept coming up page not found, you hit refresh then it came up. We called our provider & they admitted problems. Lasted nearly 3 weeks. Now it is working better than ever.
I think the traffic is getting so heavy some of these providers can't keep up.
I am no computer genius, but Dave, is this a possibility ?

Bernie, I am having the same problems. I also had a problem today sending would send it , page not found came up, refreshed and pic had disappeared in cyperspace so I had to do it again. I should have threatened to throw it overboard. That's what keeps it in line all the other times it acts up. LOL.

Dave this is the third day that I cannot see any pictures!

Yeah, that's another problem on here. There are times I can't see any pics!! It's just random with me but have had that problem for the last few days.

Bonnie, I feel for you!! It's hard when you can't see the pics. We have all been spoiled by Dave!! LOL

Very "messing up" here, too.

Many times, in the past few days, I end up with the blank page. Either have to back up and reclick or can sometimes just refresh the blank page and get to where I'm trying to get to.

Other sites are cruising right along as normal. Only happens on DG.

Yeah, this morning it is slow and some pics aren't showing.

As of late yesterday afternoon, and today, I am back to slow again..... and it is just this site.

Today while at work, I will connect with a PC (shivers... I am really a Mac person from way back) and my usual Mac. See what happens there. That will rule out my ISP and dialup. At my work, we get huge graphic files from clients, and have a really really fast connection.

This is very strange!

Mine is still going million miles a split second!
I have some threads with tons of photos on my watched list. One has 252 replies, 2/3 of them pictures. Took less than a second to load.

Mine is also moving along nicely this morning (well, as fast as you can on a dialup connection at least!)

I still don't get any pictures and I am on cable.
This is the only site doing that.

Well, it appears to be ok here at work right now.

I will download Firefox's update here, and take it home do install on the new Mac. Perhaps that will help.

So far so good here. Just got back on and had no problems.

Just now starting to have problems with the site, running slow.

Can not view pictures today at all, just a little red x where the pic. should be. has been running slow here for 2 days too.

Pixie, did you try clicking on it where the picture should be? I had that same situation once, but I clicked on it and the picture came up.

I did that myself nap when it was messing up on me and it didn't do anything.

Hmmmm. Did you see Dave's advice to Ursula on another thread?

Yes to both questions, no luck, but today it's working fine.

I still cannot view pictures. It says click on to see enlarged picture.

I'm not having trouble with pics, but the site has been creeping along very slowly all three times I've been on today.

Hmmm...working just fine for me (again). Wonder what in the world it was?

Dave, when I was having problems on with the pics on here there was a red x where the pic would be. Also at one time below Terry's name where DG Admin is usually there was a red x. I clicked on it and it didn't do anything. I haven't had problems all week so I am good now. But it was frustrating when it was acting up. I couldn't get a proper DG fix! LOL.

I'm having alot of trouble with the site being slow, the Home and Go Gardening tabs disappear and I can't post a reply with photo on the cottage garden site. Is this at my end or DGs ?

sempervirens, can you try firefox instead of safari and let me know if it makes a difference?

I tried firefox again and was able to post the photo and the Home and Go Gardening tabs have returned but it is still very slow.
I would like to safari as all my garden sites and info is bookmarked there and it is still having the same problems although I did post without a photo. Is safari no longer useable with DG? Did something change either on DG or safari? At one point both safari and firefox had similar problems.

My "slowness" seems to have been solved. Safari working fine now at home and at work for several days. I did download the Firefox program, but the problem with slowness worked out before I got to install Firefox. Hope it works out for others too. Don't know what the problem was.......

Is there something going on this morning? It took me almost 10 minutes from the time when I tried to load the DG home page to the point where I could get into this thread to start typing this message. And it'll probably take another 10 minutes for this to post. I have a slow as molasses dialup connection, but this is way worse than usual and the problem is only with DG not with the other sites I'm using so I know it's not my connection this time.

Same here ecrane3. It's not my connection either, and I have a cable connection.

We had a spammer sending out emails that were overloading our server. I stopped it about an hour ago and it seems to be back to normal now.

Thanks! It does seem better now, still slow because of the dialup but not slower than other sites anymore. I really need to get myself a high speed connection!

DG keeps disappearing on me today and I'm getting Microsoft "Sorry but we have to close" warnings. Slow as a lazy turtle. Maybe it's a weather related glitch?

I don't think the Microsoft sorry have to close warnings have anything to do with DG--that's usually a problem with Internet Explorer or your computer, I don't think it ever has anything to do with websites you're visiting. Things still seem a little slower than usual here, although definitely faster than when I first posted this morning.
