Thanks Dave47
We don`t get them here often,
But when we do, nothing is safe.
Small dogs, Chooks, Sheep, Ducks and all.
They don`t know how to get to my Fish. lol
Favorite gardening Christmas gift
What is a chook?
Sorry to keep asking questions...
Chicken, right?
Sorry Dave,
Had a lot of mail to answer.
Yes they are Chickens that have grown up.
On another note - A local garden center in Branford, CT is going out of business. Rivezzi's carries stone, rock, gravel & some really nice granite garden art. They are open from 1-3 pm most days, until mid February when they anticipate the final day of business. The store is filled with their own stonework - a granite fireplace, a huge stone waterfall & pond - all their own craftsmanship. Some nice garden art should you wish to make the trip!
Julie
Thanks Julie! I missed Fonnicello's closing sale. Did you? Very sad, but I'll check out Rivezzi's.
Is Rivezzi's the one near the center of Branford or is it on Rte. 80 in North Branford?

I got to Fonny's twice before they closed - it was sad. The manager, who has worked there for over 30 years, was really stressing out. I asked for a piece from the huge Philodendron, but the owner said NO. I will be watching that building like a hawk. If it is going to be razed, I will stand right in front of that backhoe, shovel in hand, until they allow me to cut a piece! Did you know that Ivy is over 25 years old? Just beautiful!
Rivezzi's is on Route 80 in North Branford. I bought a pink granite bird bath, & I am still mulling over a granite bench!
Thanks Julie. I'll check them out!
You make it so tempting to drive up!
On your way to Logee's, perhaps!
Thank God for the cold weather. Now it's tempting to just stay home and look at plants for the 2007 season.
Pirl, I agree but Julie's idea of going to Logee's would be a nice winter break.
Julie, I've still never been!
oooh! I just about spend the whole day in the catalog when it comes. I would LOVE to go there in person. even DH likes the catalog. he can't believe the plants in it. I already want one of everything.
$100 gift certificate for my local nursery!
Nancy
Oh,Nancy, that's my kind of gift! have you decided what you're going to get yet?
Wow, that's a lot of pots to fill. the nursery must love to see you coming LOL how pretty!
Sorry to intrude,
gabagoo, Thats a nice Picture.
You must enjoy sitting on that love seat and gaze.
Dave and gram - I totally agree that it would be a great winter break and also that I'd want at least one of everything, therein lies the problem!
Gabagoo - what a lovely and thoughtful gift. No matter how many perennials I have it's the annuals that just keep on going like the Energizer bunny.
Nancy - That is a beautiful garden. It looks like a wonderful place to hide from the world!
It's the perfect escape after a day at the office.
My favorite time is the mornings on the weekends or a day off.
It's great to sit out there with my breakfast, a cup of coffee & the morning paper.
Nancy
Nancy,
Over here we call those 2 seater garden benches 'Love seats'
Are the majority of your plants in pots?
ALL of my plants are in pots.
The yard is totally bricked so there's no in-ground planting at all.
Nancy
Nancy, you must do a LOT of watering. It is lovely!
You have truly transformed the terrace. I bet your neighbors are jealous :)
LOL! Last spring while I was planting, the people in the building behind me were on their balcony.
They asked if they could take a picture of my garden.
In 2005, I was able to go on their roof and saw what their view was like.
This is one of the pics I took.
As for the watering, It takes me a little over an hour to water everything. This past season I added a 2nd hose in the back corner. It speeds things up since I don't have to drag one hose around the pots to the back.
Nancy
Beautiful. Your very own piece of Paradise. Where's Adam hiding?
Nancy, Very nice!
Great Pic.
Oh, that's a fabulous view!
I am slowly catching up with some new threads that I haven't read yet - I just encountered this one. Great Garden view Nancy!
As for the gift. Last Christmas I recieved and indoor plant/lite setup - http://indoorgardensupplies.com/plant-stands-sunlighter-stand-c-106_114.html?osCsid=39f3f7481833b57139a553c164afd0de
It is one of my favorite gardening gifts! My mother is also a great garden gift giver....she finds the greatest sculptures!
Great gift. Enjoy it as I'm sure you will.
Anita,
I opened that link, read everything, then yelled to hubby. Pointing, I say: "I want that next year for Christmas." LOL
Did he point to a picture of Christie Brinkley and say the same thing?
Nay! He did not, knows better!! LOL Actually it will be some sort of hunting or fishing item i'm sure. Bought him a bow for Christmas, not my idea of a gift but it made him very happy! Did I mention I married a country boy???
How nice that he has his priorities in the right place.
Still bow hunts, does he? An excuse to get out and play in the woods a little sooner in the fall?? Oh, he'll get along just fine with my DH when you come up here in the spring...2 peas in a pod (or 2 hunters in a blind LOL). My DH stopped a hunting a while back, but it's all still in his head (and the bow's still in my closet)
that's a nice cart, Anita. looks like it wouldn't take up too much room. do you use it for seed starting, or orchids, or what?
I think bow hunting makes the game field more fair...
I love the cart and use it for my orchids, starting african violets and I did start my dragon wing begonia's inside last year. I have coleus starts down there now and I start my dahlias and cannas in the spring.
