Oh. My. Gawd!
The print catalog only features premier items to choose from when
redeeming points rewards.
So, basically, we're talking about scrolling through a gazillion items
at ten items per page on a dial-up computer connection.
Ugh!
Something for the kitchen, perhaps? 134,497 items to choose from.
Guess how many pages that would take to peruse?
Okay, how about a new set of silverware? Sure, just click on any of
the 796 sets available. One page at a time. Eighty pages of looking
at flatware and I'll likely resort to using my fingers.
Anyone ever spent time looking at 1,795 can openers?
Bwa ha ha! This is hilarious!
Redeeming credit card rewards points...
Well, fortunately my card company gives me the option of redeeming my credit card points for cash or gift cards for stores I prefer to shop at. Do you have that option?
We're giving up this card, but have many points to spend.
Thankfully we have moved to a cash back card.
:-)
LOL that would be horrid.... WE have a cabelas visa card and you can only redeem your points through the cabelas catalog which is ok with us, since we're both cabelas fools . We always seem to get free coats for the kids. and lots of other things. We rack up a free At least $20.00 a month in free points. sometimes more. Since everything we buy goes on our visa and we pay it off monthly. I'm so glad I don't have to shop that long to redeem my points. That is rediculous.
So far I've discovered a few goodies, but my gosh, this
is taking forever.
Maybe I'll just order one thing a month since it takes three
weeks to arrive. Then it will seem like Christmas once a
month. Ha ha! Already found a present for my mom for next
Christmas!
:-)
I redeem my points for gift cards. I'm sure the credit card companies really dislike me as I charge all items I purchase...even groceries and pay it off each month. I sure rack up alot of points. This Christmas I used alot of points to purchase gift cards for my kids and grandkids.
Deb
Deb,
Yep. They have a name for folks like us, sad but true.
We are not the preferred customers. It is the folks who
rack up credit and then pay the minimum balance due
each month, with the heavily attached late fees and
finance charges they prefer.
I saw a television show one time which gave the name
they have for us, but I can't remember what it was. It was
a name you would think they would give the folks who don't
pay their bills. I'll see if I can find it.

Yep...they make a ton of money off all the people that pay the interest fees + late fees...so it makes me feel good to use the money free for a month and get points for gift cards. Plus...I really like being able to look at a year end statement where it show all the areas I spent my hard earned money. Gosh I even put gasoline charges on the credit card now...I figure I might as well rack up as many points as possible.
But remember...you have to pay it off each month in order for it to work to your advantage.
It works real well for hubby and I.
Just a little update, we cashed in our points rewards and chose...
A salt and pepper grinder, a nifty clock for the son and Oneida flatware.
Funny thing about the flatware. It took about 20,000 points, which is
the equivalent of one point per dollar spent. Guess it's the one time
in our life we will have purchased twenty thousand dollar silverware.
Ha ha!
I kid my son by saying that for five thousand dollars, that new alarm
clock had better get him out of bed.
