Winter Sale On Seeds

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

I'm glad to know that the 'half-off' savings mentality isn't singularly encoded ONLY in my DNA ;) I'm noting your names to come to my defense in my divorce (J/K!!)
However, due to a fundage shortage, I haven't bought seeds in months. Now the darn catalogs are starting to come in....wahhhhh. I had to put them in the filing cabinet for now.

I might take a peek - I hope 5.00 will buy something nifty!

Thanks for the ENABLING...you guys are great :D :D :D

Hi Jeff -- welcome to the forum. Take a look at the "Garden Watchdog" in the tabs in the upper part of this page....I think your company was just added this week! There might be a mention further up this thread, too.

Jeff, usually when there is a rep from a company it says so on their homepage here. You might want to d-mail the owner Dave and see if you can get that added to your page if you haven't already done so.

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

I can see that I'm going to have to look you up the next time we're in AR bigred!

I keep buying cool metal and wood containers at Goodwill and DH says "What's that for?" And I say, "seeds" under my breath. And he says "Don't you already have (insert # here) containers for seeds?" At that time I kind of go into selective hearing mode and try to divert his attention....LOL! One of these days they are all going to be organized darn it!

Sunny, I have done that so many, many times. I needed something to go UNDER my pots, so I looked, and I found several cafeteria trays at Goodwill. They work very well! Trash to treasure, that's what it is!

Northglenn, CO(Zone 5a)

Thanks for letting me know Windy.

I have e-mailed support to find out what I need to do about that.

Hi, Jeff,

I like your website, and you have some interesting varieties of seeds. May I be so bold as to ask if you could include the Latin names in the descriptions? Lots of times common names vary from place to place, and a lot of hard-core gardeners prefer the Latin ones.

You might also want to put a "company message" on the Watchdog page - helps people to know what your company is all about, and also the day it is posted it will show up on the most recent posts, so you'll get a little more attention!

Best of luck.
Elizabeth

Thank you Elizabeth,

I will get the latin names from Botanical Interests and add them to the descriptions.

I will also post a company message.

Thanks for the comments!

Jeff, congratulations on the website/business. I had to vist the link too. I love art and your seed packages are beautiful. I would hate to open them!

Jeff, how many seeds are in a packet?

Northglenn, CO(Zone 5a)

Botanical Interests seeds are sold by weight, so it's difficult to tell you how many seeds are in each packet.

I opened a pack of beans the other day (Bean Pole Snap Blue Lake), and there were 32 seeds.

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

I went into Menards yesterday, with my list...which did not include anything from the gardening department. Wouldn't you know it......there were some seed packages in my bag when I got home. It's the darndest thing! If it weren't for WS I don't think that would have happened.

Marie_ It's the gardener's magnetic force field...the seeds knew they were going to a loving garden home. The same magnetic force field attracted a few seed pkts just the other day as I was earnestly shopping for arts and crafts for the pumpkins in WM,no less! LOL!

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

I knew that there must be a logical explanation to explain this phenomenon.

Know you can justify to DH and anyone else,, that there is a scientific explanation for having an abundance of seeds on any given day and it is known as the "gardener's magnetic force field" and with that ..."May the FORCE be with you!"

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL just kurking here enjoying the company.......

Why thank you! ;0)

Adoreable garden6! I totally agree!!

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

gmff, garden6...may the force be with you!! seeds keep showing up at my house. got an envelope from 'across the pond' the other day. DH claims I'm part of some secret international seed ring LOL. I think they come because they know it's a safe place where they are welcome and they can grow ;0) anyway it's pretty cool. the milk jugs kind of show up the same way.

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

The force spreads to wherever it is needed.

We shall all toast... with seeds in dirty hands, "To the Force!" LOL! ;0) ...

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Here, here!!

Grampapa~gmff and the FORCE be with you too! ;0)

Lewisburg, KY(Zone 6a)

Can you please explain how the gallon jugs need to be cut? How far up do I need to add the potting soil? How many holes? Ect.
Thanks,
Teresa

And four inches of soil. Enough holes that it drains, but you can add more with a knife if it needs more, just stab it a few times. Be sure to check that site over, there's dozens of great links. . .databases, etc

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

(joining in toast...) may the force be with you too. (clink)

xxx, Carrie

LOL! That was my silly moment yesterday until I went to WM again, needed magnets for the boy pumpkin. Yep, the Force was with me and I had another pkt. of seeds when I opened my bags! ;0) BTW- the selection of Burpee and Burpee Select seeds was much better than I noticed for last year, or maybe that was before THE FORCE was with me! LOL!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hey, I had some huge bags of potting soil, and then it rained, and then the temp. plummeted, and now they're all huge blocks of ice!

What to do?

Even if I were able to get them inside, they would create a small flood as they thawed. :-( :-(

Ideas? (It was dumb. I usually blame dumb stuff on my husband, but this one, I should have forseen.)

xxxxx, Carrie WSing seeds into empty bottles with beautiful holes but no soil.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

buy a few more??? Sorry, can't think of anything else, unless you have a place where the water won't cause damamge.

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Carrie, I had that happen too. I brought mine into the basement to thaw, and was surprised when nothing leaked out - maybe not as wet as you think? I don't know.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

hmmm... may try that, clay, when DH gets home.

xxx, C
