Do any of you from snow country recommend a type of sled that is not very $$ for pulling a small child in snow? I found that the old wooden sleds are big bucks now. I just want something for my grandson who lives in Bend, Oregon where their winters are snowy. I may resort to an old garbage can lid w/ attached rope.
A sled for children?
Googled and found this for 8.99

thanks Bubba. Of course you live smack dab in the middle of snow country!
I grew up in northern Minnesota - less than 100 miles from Canada. I know from SNOW.
When the "oil patch" died in early '80s, spent 2 years in Colorado and 2 in LA, before moving back to Texas - When we made the move from Aurora, CO to LA,CA, I told the driver of the moving van - "If those helpers put those snow shovels on the truck one more time, they are going to wear them in a very unpleasent place!"
It was fun to have snow on Christmas eve a year back, but it was gone in 2 days.
I had a bob sled in Minnesota - dad would tie it to the car and drive down the dirt roads - (well iced in and covered with snow), and I would try to get over the snow banks made by the county graders on both sides of the road. Also had skis, and other sleds.
But now, I don't intend to EVER shovel snow again (as a "have to" thing). Would help a friend or relative if back in snow country for a visit, tho.
