Trouble logging into Dave's

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Have been having trouble logging in to Dave's today. I get a "page not found" message. I have to use another search engine, type in dave's garden, click on dave's garden, plant files, and can navigate from there, but everytime I try to access the "home page" still get that page not found message. Help, I want my favorites to work properly again.

Dave, any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat. I can only get on through a saved link and then through Garden or Home Talk. But I can't get to the home page. I turned my anti virus off and my firewall off and still couldn't get on.

That is really weird. Hope all is sorted through tonight, and tomorrow is back to normal.

I've had problems for a month. It's the local internet srever. Called them & they admit to the problem but can't find the solution. Maybe they need Dave!
Bernie

It must be something with my ISP also because I had no trouble at work - well getting onto Dave's that is.

What web address are ya'll trying to access? Any are you going here by typing in the address, or clicking on a bookmark?

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Bookmark and typing in..First time I could get on since yesterday am...Been trying with 3 different browers..Atr this moment, Netscape is working,,Firefox and IE..no..

I don't think it's a problem with IE (unless there's something messed up in your settings) I use IE both at home and at work and have had no problems whatsoever (I always get here by typing in davesgarden.com in the address bar)

Dave, I was trying at home from a bookmark to davesgarden.com. I was able to get onto the site through a different book marked thread but if I hit home - I got page not found. I also have found a number of forums that won't open for me. This is at home so I guess it's my ISP or my computer.

Thanks, Loretta

Next time one of ya'll has trouble accessing the site, please do this:

Go to Start, then Run, and type in "cmd" and press enter.

That will open a DOS box. Type in "ping davesgarden.com" and let me know exactly what it says.

Larkie,

Do the ping command in the DOS box.

My ISP must have got things straightened out, pages are flying by again. Wireless internet, the best!
Bernie

elsie, were you having problems at the exact moment that you issued that command?

dave

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

With Firefox I can type this in http://davesgarden.com/forums/ and get to the forums..But I cannot get to my home page.. Most of the other tabs will work fine..confused here..Will just use Netscape a while I guess.

Dave I am still having problems. I used to get her by a bookmark in "favorites" but always get the "page not found" I have been getting here by using MSN, typing in Dave's garden, plant files, and this will work. But haven't seen the home page in a number of days. I am calling my ISP tomorrow, and we will get this worked out. It is also affecting my DH's Stock website, and he can't get there either. So stands to reason that it is the ISP or some settings on the computer that is preventing me from getting there.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

We called our ISP a couple times. They were aware of the problem, were trying to fix it. In the meantime he said to hit the refresh button when a page wouldn't load. We almost wore it out, but that worked. The page would pop right up after the refresh.
Lot nicer now that it is working right.
Bernie

That is extremely strange that so many people are having trouble, and yet the problem seems to be on the side of their ISP.

I wonder if all of you are using the same provider??

I just loaded up internet explorer (I'm on my laptop right now) and DG loaded perfectly fine. I have yet to experience this problem.

The traffic on the servers is still reliably high - it doesn't seem to be missing a lot of traffic (we see a big dip in traffic when there are server problems like that)

Ours never kept us off, just the double click thing. Still working great today.

I couldn't get on DG from Wed afternoon until this morning. I was clicking on the usual link in my favorites and got the page not found message. I tried typing in davesgarden.com and got the same thing so I assumed that the whole site got zapped by a bug or had an equipment breakdown. Everything worked fine this morning when I clicked the link in my favorites list.

Dave, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Got to go to the ER on Thursday - ugh. Yes, I was having problems when I issued that command.

The next time some of you have trouble getting to davesgarden.com, please try these four addresses:

lion.davesgarden.com
king.davesgarden.com
spirit.davesgarden.com
temple.davesgarden.com

And report your findings. Thanks for the help!

|On Firefox, I get page not found with all of the above addresses.

Larkie

I can still type in the forums address and get to them, but not to the homepage.

I downloaded the Internet Explorer 7.0, and that caused problems.
I contacted my ISP, and they told me that was the problem.
They sent me a link that allows me to view websites until the bugs are worked out
of 7.0. They told me that they had been experiencing a lot of problems with this, and
some websites weren't compatible with7.0. After I downloaded the User String Utility,
I have not had any problem since.

My normal links are finally working on all browsers now..Thanks goodness..

Okay, my problem is solved. It has been three days since I could log on from my favorites list. Called my ISP this afternoon, and it is Internet Explorer 7 that is causing the problems. They did give me detailed directions, and it is in the security settings. Went in and changed some of them, and I am able to get to Daves from my favorites. Whew, I was going into withdrawal big time. If anybody is interested, I think I can tell you what needs to be changed, if you want to d-mail me.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Guess what I'm not going to download! I'm still on version 6 and I think I'll keep it that way until they get some of the bugs ironed out.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Great decision!!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Remember back a few months when Dave suggested upgrading Firefox. I did then.
Bernie

Dave, I don't know know what's going on. I was just able to get to the home page from my regular bookmark. I haven't downloaded 7.0 and I guess I won't.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Mel, this is a dumb question, because you probably already went through this with her, but did you check her internet "options" to ensure she's allowing cookies from DG?

Crossville, TN

I just had Email from Elena....she uses Mozilla Firefox....and has no trouble signing in to other web sites but Dave's Garden.....and this is where she left her heart.....She NEEDS her Heart!!! Jo

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I "spoke" with Elena a couple days ago (IM messaging).

She hasn't been able to get on DG since October. She's had a friend/relative do lots of computer stuff (her words!) and even reformatted the computer. Still no go.

I could only suggest calling her ISP and checking her security systems (Parental control software, anti-virus, etc).

At least she'll be somewhat happy to hear others are also having trouble and that is just isn't her system.

Glad you forwarded the info, RR. Hope it helps.

Shoe.
