Where Am I - Part 7

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

I hear it has changed a lot since I was there LOL!!

Blooms, this happened on the last thread, where was that, Palm Canyon.... or almost, where we both posted almost the same time!

Yay!!! I wonder how old those trees are

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Kelli, this was a fun search, I found lotsa pictures.
frozen in October? how high is that mountain?
They just said on tv that it may snow in Vegas on Sunday

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

If things on that mountain are anything like on the White Mountains of CA, there should be bristlecones there that are at least 2000 years old.

The topo map shows the spring at around 3,000 meters. That's well over 9,000ft.

Here is a picture of one of the largest bristlecones we saw and the frozen spring. The date on the pictures is Oct. 19, 1996.

kelli -I'm really late to this one - after beginning to read through, I was in agreement with hellnzn11, but see that we missed it...they are amazing and nearly as amazing were the huge juniper berries/trees..

I have never been there but it sounds interesting.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Who else has one now or Kelly, you world traveler? Lets see another one. Has any of you ever been to pagosa springs Co., they have these natural mineral springs that you can go in and each one has a different temperature from warm to almost scolding. I went in the winter and it was so cool to sit out in the evening and see the reflection of the river that runs by it and snow all around your steamming breath in the cold, while youy sit relaxing in hot egg smelling water.

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

I've been through there, on my way to what I think is the best 'unknown' national monument, the Great Sand Dunes Nat. Monument. No golfing or hot spring baths, though.LOL

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Is it in the four corners region?

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

The other way, past Alamosa

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Claypa - Last year I checked out the Sand Dunes NM on line, found a fair no of pics and information. It sounds perfect to me. few people and accomodations usually suits me and my tent just fine. LOL But I never ddi go on a camping trek this year.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Not northern CA, Multnomah Falls, or Angel Falls. (Don't know if there is an Angel Falls in Peru.)

(Zone 3b)

West coast? Seattle area?
kiska

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

West Coast, but not Seattle area

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Oregon?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Not Oregon ..................................

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I thought there was an angel fals at Yosemite? I asked my dh and he said yes so I thought it was that. Is there not one there?

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

how about Sentinel Falls at Yosemite?
Or is Yosemite considered Ncal?
I googled the list of falls and found no Angel at Yosemite.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Is it in the Cascade Range?

near Mt. Rainier?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

I think Yosemite is considered northern CA. I know that it is not considered southern CA. The term central CA is not used very often, usually just central coast or Central Valley. But anyways, it isn't Yosemite (regardless of the crowd), the Cascade Range, or near Mt. Rainier.

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Somewhere on the Olympic peninsula?

Burlingame, CA(Zone 9a)

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

How about in the Los Padres Nat. Forest?

West Pottsgrove, PA(Zone 6b)

Pfeiffer Falls in Big Sur?

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Neither of those, but Los Padres has been the closest guess so far.

Peterstown, WV(Zone 6a)

Hog Pen Springs?

Burlingame, CA(Zone 9a)

Blooms - Holy Jim Falls is in OC, Southern California. I did a native plant class at Saddleback College down there and this was one of the hikes we did. The road in to the start of the hike is a four wheel drivers dream. Completely unpaved, dry river bed, few fiords, lots of boulders - not something you would expect to see in SoCal ;-)

Here's a link that describes the falls. http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/HolyJimFalls_4472.asp

Kelli - Are the falls in CA, OR, or WA?

Edited to say: just read Kelli's last post and so it must be in CA! duh
