I hope I don't have mites ;-(

Lindenhurst, NY

Just now getting around to seeing all the updated posts on here.
Hadfieldp - thank you for your kind offer, that was very nice of you :-) I may take you up on it once warmer weather is here.

Allison, all of the plants that I kept look good, I check them every week very carefully. If anyone of them appears to have a center where the leafs are detiorating, it will get thrown out.

My plants all look healthy, I just haven't seen that amazing almost instant improvement that people have spoke about with the vfll. I think I was expecting a miracle:-)

Melted?? Oh, dear! Which one? I haven't noticed any new problems here and thought your plantlets all came from trays where everybody looked healthy, so if you happen to remember the name it might help me track a potential problem here... Thanks!

Maybe Jill keyring was joking . I never heard of that happening. :))

Maureen you did good ! So glad your plants are happy now !

well, I'm sure something bad must've happened to that plant... and crown issues are always some cause for concern!

Peppermint trail, I think? It was in the middle of the plastic tub in which I have all your plants. One day I looked and the plant had disappeared, leaving 3 or 5 of the outermost leaves intact. Literally like it had melted. The rest of the plantlets look normal.

I'm being lazy and leaving the box sealed until you get yours checked out.

I have no explanation for that! That one was a plantlet that had been potted up as a double... I separated it into two, and you got one of them... I watered the other one just this afternoon, and it still looks fine. What a mystery!

I should add that the meltdown probably happened sometime in a window of 5 wks (while I wasn't looking)

I did have another little trailer that was doing pretty well, developing multiple crowns... up-potted it and I think got it a little too wet... it's now half the size that it was, as I think it started getting some rot and half the leaves just melted... I downpotted it again, and it's recovering nicely.

So, do you think that root rot (or wet leaf rot) is the cause for crown melting/death?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I don't know... but something like that might have caused some problems with that plantlet... I don't remember for certain, but I don't think it had had its own pot for very long and might not have filled the pot with roots yet, so it might have been more succeptable to that sort of thing.

I really doubt rot. That hasn't happened to my avs in a long long long time. I bottom water the tubs and it was not in a spot that could get dripped on by condensation. Plus, I grow things dry, so...

There was enough humidity in there to support leaves.

I don't know, but of the ones I gave you that one would be the last I'd suspect of harboring pests because the other plant looks so good... and for that matter, all the plants on all the trays that your plantlets came from look great.
