Games Forum

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

How about a Forum for all the word games and the like.

Seems to be the games are squeezing the Jokes and Chat Forum so hard it is difficult to find what we are looking for because they get bumped down so fast.

I'm inclined to agree with Scooterbug on this.
Word games are very popular, especially in Winter.

Thanks Guys,

I kinda would like a Forum like that meself.

The only games I ever play on the PC are word games or Mahjongg.

This is a daily event for me ;-))

Yeah that is a good idea. I look at that forum everyday and most of the time have to sort through a lot of the word games to find the jokes. I do play the word games sometimes but not regularly.

Hiya GRC , How are you and DW ? Did you know I am moving to S.E.TN this Spring ?

Getting closer ..... Guard your plants well ................ lol

Whelp my friend, I must agree, the Jokes Forum is no fun anymore.
I like game and such but scheesh , it's like the Invasion of the Word Ants over there

heeeeeeeeee

;-P

Word games have popped up on the South West gardening forum also, although they're not as bad as the jokes forum, it still bogs up things.

I think the OT posts in the Southwest forum bog things up more than the word games :)

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Love this idea! I rarely go to the Jokes and Chat forum anymore for just this reason - too many word games. Now don't get me wrong - I like them as much as the next person, and have participated in some. But with so many they relegate both Jokes and Chat to the bottom of the page or the next page. Am I wrong in thinking that people aren't posting Jokes and/or Chat as often? Or is it just because the word games make it look like that?

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Shoot ! I don't go there half as much as I used to.
This is not the same at all everything gets buried so fast now .
;'(
boo-hoo

Denton, TX(Zone 7b)

I would also like to see the games separated from the jokes forum.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Maybe we should sign a petition and respectfully submit it to Terry ?

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

We need to do SOMETHING. Neither Dave nor Terry have weighed in on this yet. What do we need to do to get their attention?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I've been keeping a loose eye on this thread. Year-end is busy for our little admin team both personally and here at DG, so I haven't talked to Dave about the possibility of a games forum yet ;o)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Thank You Terry ;-))

SF Bay Area, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks, Terry! :>)

Sioux City, IA(Zone 4b)

There a days a person (myself) needs a good laugh and the jokes get rotated down so fast anymore that they are hard to find, and I think people are posting fewer (?) because they are getting lost. I think the games are great fun for those who participate and they should have a forum of their own.

Did you hear about the two TV antennas that got married?
The wedding was terrible, but the reception was terrific.

Did you hear about the scientist that crossed a porcupine with a sheep?
He got an animal that knits its own sweaters.

A man went home to visit his family for the Christmas holiday. He had always loved a little restaurant in the neighborhood, so decided to visit it for “old times sake.”
He ordered Eggs Benedict, and when it was served, it arrived on this huge chrome platter, with a gaudy presentation.
He asked the waitress, “Why all this fancy stuff.” She answered, “There’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise.”

A lady was swimming in the Mediterranean when she felt a sharp sting on her thigh. When the area began to redden and burn, she visited a local doctor who applied an ointment, telling her that she was probably bitten by an electric eel.
Back home in the States, the wound still hurt, so she went to her own doctor. After telling the doctor her story, he asked, “Where did you say you were swimming?”
“In the Mediterranean,” she said. “there’s no electric eels in the Medditerranean… what country was it?” the doctor queried.
“Italy,” she said.
“Aha!”said the doctor:
“In that case, it’s a moray.”

THE AOL CAR

* The AOL car would have a TOP speed of 40 MPH yet have a 200 MPH speedometer.

* The AOL car would come equipped with a NEW and fantastic 8-Track tape player.

* The car would often refuse to start and owners would just expect this and try again later.

* The windshield would have an extra dark tint to protect the driver from seeing better cars.

* AOL would sell the same model car year after year and claim it's the NEW model.

* Every now and then the brakes on the AOL car would just "lock-up" for no apparent reason.

* The AOL car would have a very plain body style but would have lots'a pretty colors and lights.

* The AOL car would have only one door but it would have 5 extra seats for family members.

* Anyone dissatisfied could return the car but must continue to make payments for 6 months.

* If an AOL car owner received 3 parking tickets AOL would take the car off of them.

* The AOL car would have an AOL Cell phone that can only place calls to other AOL car cell phones.

* AOL would pass a new car law forbidding AOL car owners from driving near other car dealerships.

* AOL car mechanics would have no experience in car repair.

* Younger AOL car drivers would be able to make other peoples AOL cars stall just for fun.

* It would not be possible to upgrade your AOL car stereo.

* AOL cars would be forced to use AOL gas that cost 20% more and gave worse mileage.

* Anytime an AOL car owner saw another AOL car owner he would wonder, M/F/age?

* It would be common for AOL car owners to divorce just to marry another AOL car owner.

* AOL car owners would always claim to be older or younger than they really are.

* AOL cars would come with a steering wheel and AOL would claim no other cars have them.

* Every time you close the door on the AOL car it would say, "Good-Bye."

Is this thing on?

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Ummm, well.....there's a fine line between asking and pestering ;o)

More seriously - we have to measure the perceived interest level in a forum - not just from those who ask for it, but among the general subscribership. We don't rush in because we want to make sure the interest is sustained and sustainable, and not a "flash-in-the-pan" idea that vaporizes almost as quickly as it developed.

So the answer to your question is - yes, we're watching. And waiting. Meanwhile, you're welcome (encouraged, actually) to post the jokes in the jokes and chat forum. That will help us see If the word games were given their own forum, if the jokes would take up the slack, or if the lack of games would simply leave a void in that forum.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

What?? Me pester? Really? No! You sure?

Are you glad I got a new 'puter for Christmas Terry? ROFL

I think a games forum would be great. Jokes and chat does get clogged up by the word game threads, plus a games forum could have posts linking to fun game sites and game-related talk.

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

After having been inactive on the boards for a while, I cast a vote towards having a separate Games Forum. It seems that every board eventually has one, and sure, it's fun to play for a bit!

I've always enjoyed visiting our Jokes and Chat Forum for its uplifting messages and anecdotes, and would prefer not to have to page through it to find those 'gems'. :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I agree... I've been enjoying the word games lately, but I hadn't been to that forum for a while, and I was rather startled to see how thoroughly they've crowded out other types of posts. I'm not generally in favor of more & more forums... but in this case, I think we'd end up with both forums being improved and made more active by the split.

It doesn't affect me personally, but it only seems to make sense to separate games from jokes. In my humble opinion, the entire DG site could use re-organization. :-)

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

I don't visit the games, old Jokes & Chat forum anymore.
How about a new Jokes & Chats that automatically chokes game threads.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

now, now... no need to choke the game threads... I'm having fun with them, myself.... but I do think they need a "room of their own" LOL.

I just realized there doesn't seem to be a link to this discussion over on the Jokes & Chat Forum (or maybe it got pushed off the page by the word games!)... will go fix that.
