1st winter Morning Glory bloom

No, it just seems to come naturally to me. I enjoy it. Thanks.

is one of the nicest that I've ever seen of the exterior of the fully opened MG from that angle...makes the bloom look like a living parasol...very aesthetic...

I am enjoying how you are growing different varieties together. They photograph well in their diversity. I always seperate mine so the bees don't cross-pollinate them as readily.

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

The good thing about using different species(!) of MG's is the you can grow them together as the different species won't cross fertilize...
e.g.,Convolvulus,Evolvuls,Ipomoea hederacea.Ipomoea coccinea,Ipomoea alba,Ipomoea indica,Ipomoea lindheimeri,Ipomoea lobata,Ipomoea nil,Ipomoea obscura,Ipomoea ochracea,Ipomoea pandurata,Ipomoea platensis,Ipomoea purpurea,Ipomoea quamoclit,Ipomoea setosa,Ipomoea sloteri,Ipomoea tricolor,Ipomoea turbinata,Ipomoea wrightii,Jacquemontia,Merremia,Operculina,Polymeria,Stictocardia,Turbina and other different species and genera...
none of these when grown together with any Ipomoea will cross fertilize...so very colorful aesthetic combination plantings of many different colors are very possible with no chance of the plants producing crosses...

These MG's look lovely in the winter. How do they do in the summer in Florida? I know in SoCal the heat makes most MG's look sad and wilted by noon (if not sooner).

Melbourne, FL

They usually don't last the whole summer, even these have to be watered every day with the warm weather we are having this year.

Your pictures are lovely!!

First Moonflower open.

It shimmers so in the image, almost as if it was like mother of pearl.

has interesting coloration...not quite blue and not quite lavender, but something composed of the two...

I noticed it looked different also, but it may have had something to do with the cold weather here.

Where did you get your seeds? And, is this a "mixed seed" package or individual packages of each color? What are the names of each....especially the bright pink one and the lavendar/blue one?

Melbourne, FL

The light blue is Heavenly Blue, I believe the rest came from a mixed pack of seed. Can't tell you where I got the seeds, I buy them at every store I see them. My newest seeds I got this spring from Lowes.

Flowers looked a little unusual this morning.
