What does an asterisk mean? Why are some names green?

What does an asterisk in the posts column mean? There were no new posts and I don't recall seeing the asterisk before. I checked FAQ but didn't see the answer. Also, why are some names green?

Thanks,

Maggie

On our site, links are blue until you click on them, then they turn green, to let you know you've already been there. The link won't turn blue again until your computer's system has refreshed itself and "forgets" you've seen that link. For some folks, their system refreshes nightly, while for others it may be days or weeks before their system re-sets itself.

An asterisk usually means one of two things:

1) Within the Garden Talk and Home Talk tabs, a red asterisk (*) next to a forum means it's for subscribers-only.

2) In forums that don't have a "photo preview" set up, an asterisk next to a thread title indicates the first post contains a photo.

That's been bugging me for about a year, glad you asked Maggie!
