Cool. I planted 20+ crosses and only 3 seedlings have showed up after 3+ weeks. I seem to be delayed this year.

One question is this for lily seeds-the ones that are flat?Or bulbets from lily stem?

Fox River Valley Are, WI(Zone 5a)

Seeds from a pod. The things on a stem are clones of the parent. I think they are called bulbils and the ones that appear just under the dirt are bulblets.

I am going to give this a try. I don't have lights but I have a solar room across the south of my house so I think I will see what happens. I am really excited about trying this. Thank you so much for all your information and the photos.

When did you take your seed pods? Did you wait until they were completely brown, had they started to open?

Thank you can't wait to try this

Fenton, MO(Zone 6b)

You should take your seed pods when they are soft to the squeeze, If the are still green you can let them brown in doors. They should be ripe now I am in St.Louis and I have harvested all my seed already.

Thanks againl.

Update
I do not use Miracle potting soil . They changed the way they make it . Had a disaster last year with very low germination. This year I made my own potting soil . Plus i used chicken grit to cover instead of pine bark.(the English way)
2 parts Sphagnum peat
1 part vermiculite
1 part perilite
1-part pine bark fines
I had a fantastic germination this year including the following Seed lots from the NALS seed exchange . 2008 SEED LOTS 68-152/68-155/68-156/68-199/68-200/68-201/68-202/68-203/68-204/68-205/68-206/68-207/68-187/68-192/88-100/88-106/88-107/88-112/88-122/88-134/88-136/88-138/88-149/88-141/88-142 2007 SEED LOTS 67-191/67-207/67-210/67-218/67-219/67-220/67-224/67-227/67-242/87-125/87-185/87-187

Quite a set up you have there. They are looking good.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

Those are sure some hardy looking lily seedlings.
Look to be quite sturdy.
I just potted up 22 pots of lily scales from last fall and some are emerging quite nicely.
Just sitting in a southern exposure.
