Sheila, those oak leaves are gorgeous! That fig has some unique leaves.
Hello Texans!! Let us see your Fall Colors.
Oooh, I love your Castor bean, I have seeds for this next year. Should I plant them now, or wait until spring??
Love your yard Josephine, even in the fall. I hope I get to see my Frostweed change colors, it hasn't yet, but it was a late bloomer too!
That Hydrangea's pretty, I wish I could get them to grow here.
I would wait until spring to plant the bean.
Is that their host plant, or are they just resting?
The host for the snout butterflies is hackberry trees, they especially like the Spiny Hackberry. I've seen snouts on just about every plant around here, including the grasses!
Temp just dropped 20 degrees in the last hour here y'all. I'm at the South end of Keller.
It dropped 18 here, in the last hour.

Sheila the colors on your oak are absolutely amazing, treasure it.

Fly girl, the trees in my backyard are Flameleaf sumac, redbud and mexican plum, with the still green pecan in the foreground.

I was talking to my DDH who is down at our place near Palacios and the temp here was 70.3 by the digital thermometer an hour ago. Now it is 45.7. Quite a drop don't you think? Brrrrrrrrrr I definitely adore HOT weather more each year!

It just passed by here, an hour ago it was 71 and now it's 51 and raining. It's heading your way.
Yes, I hate this sudden changes, but on the other hand it can go the other way too, so at least it usually does't last long.
Josephine.
It does seem like the Red Oaks have put on a beautiful show this year. There are several areas while driving through McKinney, where they are growing wild in creek bottoms or parks, and the red and deep orange are really standing out. Some of the Cedar Elms are especially gold this year too.
Most of our color has been dingy yellow from the multitude of Ash and American Elms that grow wild out back. I did notice the pecan at the creek was bright yellow on Monday, though giant the one right up by the neighbor's house had already lost it's leaves.
Yes, the trees have put on a beautiful show this year, we have been very lucky indeed.
I think since we eased into the fall temps and are just now getting our first freeze, the timing helped the fall colors along. Just my opinion, no facts to attach! LOL! It just seems here we go from green to brown so often.
Yes it is very burrrrrrr out there. All morning we have had sleet or freezing rain falling off and on. There is a blanket of white on the deck and other surfaces now....mmmmm..... I am seeing tiny snow flakes now. Anyway, I refused to go in this morning, I am playing hookie! I am too close to retirement to care! Stay warm everyone!
