Hello Texans!! Let us see your Fall Colors.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Here is my 25 year old volunteer native Pecan that the squirrels planted for me, turned to golden splendor.
It appears that those squirrels are good for something after all. This tree has never had such beautiful color, my other volunteer native pecan is green as can be at this time.
Please let us see what beautiful colors are showing up around your area, they don't have to be your trees or shrubs.
Josephine.

This is what the locals call a "swamp" maple. I am not sure what maple it truly is but it is commonly found in lowlands near moisture... The color is even better in person.

From across the pond, it does stand out in a crowd...

How could we not love this day the Lord has made. The morning sun is casting shadows thru the trees onto the newly planted rye grass.

Very pretty color, and very lovely scenes Podster.
Indeed, how could we not love all the beauty the Lord has created. We need to admire it, and care for it, for we have been entrusted with a wonderful heritage that we must pass on to future generations.

You know, I took the pictures early Sunday morning and was glad to see your post so I could share. I am not a great photographer and things never turn out as pretty as they are... but I truly appreciate all the Lord has provided.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, it seems that this year the trees are prettier, at least around here. I am sure there are many wonderful trees in east Texas, with all those maples, dogwoods and sweetgums. I think they are all beautiful.
Here is a shot of my second Flemaleaf Sumac, Rhus lanceolata.

Back home...
I don't particularly even 'like' Bradford Pear, but they do get a good range of color. Especially the maroon.

Here's our Maple in back, I think a Silver Leaf...
Wet from the much needed rain!

Finally~As you can see, (looking beyond the Brugs), most of my fall color is on the ground nestling around plants to keep them warm.. It gathers around my front host plants too, and overwinters them.

Gorgeous pictures Deb, those Brugs are a great color too.

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

This is my Smoke Tree, Cotinus obovatus. My Bigtooth Maple hasn't really changed colors yet. Maybe after this week it will!

All of yor pics are amazing....frost, that Sumac is stunning!

Here's my Bald Cypress, I don't like those knees it has and it's about 6' from the driveway. Anyone know if it can lift a driveway?
But, it redeems itself in the fall with its pretty orangy-red foliage.

All right!! we are getting some action, come on guys I know you all have beautiful things all around you.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

This Firebush, Hamelia, has pretty foliage.

Very pretty Fly_girl !!! I love the Bald Cypress such a lovely tree.

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

This is my Bigtooth Maple named "Cousin It". I looked out one day and It had changed colors. It has lost a few leaves so It's a little less "hairy" than it is usually is, thus it's name. It's the sloooowest growing tree in Texas too.

Very lovely Paige, that will be a wonderful tree someday, the slower they grow, the longer they live, as a rule.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

There is something about plants turning color this year, even the Frostweed has turned a gorgeous red.

Here is another shot, I had never seen it turn this color, neat isin't it ?

My little Frostweed is turning colors too..:-) So did one of the Mistflower plants..
Wonderful colors everybody! Fly the Firebush is beautiful! Paige I really like Cousin it, thats a nice tree! Slow grower is a great one to have, I prefer them by far. Fast growing trees are brittle and in some cases dangerous.

Remember the winds we had last week? This is what happened to my neighbors Bradford Pear, imagine it in a tornado...

Note the nice fall color, lol.

The reddest color here is on the poison ivy, and who wants a picture of that, even if I had a camera.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry you don't have a camera, but I think the colors of poison ivy are very pretty too, although I am very afraid of it. They have quite a lot of it at the Wildscape garden where I volunteer and we have to be very careful.
So far so good.
Josephine.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Love the frostweed....Frostweed ....lol, is it your favorite plant?

Those Bradfords do have such pretty spring flowers and fall color, but not worth those weak branch angles.

I like to look at poison ivy....from a distance or from pictures, it is pretty.

Paige, that 'Cousin It' is very nice, weird name though.

Here's one of my 11 Yaupon hollies. They are unnoticeable until fall and then they pop. Late last winter I saw about 70 robins descend on them and devour most of those berries, it was quite a site to see a 'herd' of robins. It was a blur of orange and red.

This is a Cordyline 'Red's Sister' that brightens up with cooler temps.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, the Frostweed is pretty high on my list, it is a lovely plant for all seasons and I really like that. It is one of the reasons why I chose it for my name, and besides Texas Star was already taken, which is probably a very good thing, because it might have seemed too pompous of a name, so I think it all worked out just perfect. It suits me just fine.
I love the Yaupon holly too, and I know what you mean about the robins coming in a flock, I have only had that in my yard once, and it was amazing, they normally don't hang around in flocks, but I guess when the food is scarce, they band together, smart birds that they are.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes indeedy about the Robins..When they nest in Spring, they break up in pairs and I get some of the same ones every year. They flock to forage in fall where they go out to find berries just like those on your lovely Yupon Holly. Great pictures (flygirl)! That's a pretty Sister too. Cousin it was a character on Adam's Family, remember?

Bullnettle, woulda liked to see the bullnettle in another color... Maybe you can get a camera for Christmas. I can't imagine not having one, hats off to you for lasting this long!

Here is one corner of our yard after cutting a lot of plants down, but pretty trees.

Lol....that's where the 'cousin it' came from.

Frost, very pretty.....those crapes have nice fall color,is that one in your back yard?

Here's a Castor Bean, it's pretty all year, well into fall.

I ran out before work this morning and took a few fall pics.
Here is my oak that has made a multitude of acorns this year. Unfortunately a lot of them ended up in our pond! But isn't it beautiful? It can settle on one color! LOL!
