oops look at all the wine LOL
thanks 4paws!
the most annoying job in the kitchen is
You set a beautiful table Anne - lovely :)
That Battenberg tablecloth is outstanding....
Hap
ahhh gotta give Mom/levilyla credit for that one I borrowed it she is the one who has all the great ideas!!!
Thank you Dea ! So do you I have seen your culinary talents as well absolutely marvelous!
Anne, the table is beautiful. It would make the food taste even better!
Dyson, agreed, a place for everything and everything in it's place!
DH helps when it's family dinners. Since I have no kids underfoot, I'm able to wash pans while I'm waiting for something else to cook. I sort of clean as I go. I really hate spilled food on the countertop when I need to set down a bowl. Oops, I'm getting off topic.
lol
Not too far off, billy.
Anne, what's good food without the right wine? Made for each other.
i just realized that the thing i hate the most is having to get up from dg and the computer and go in to clean up the dinner dishes and make coffee for morning. i'm sitting here all comfortable and full and now i have a dirty kitchen to clean. i keep thinking...it could be worse, it could be worse.....!
AWWW Track I feel the same way LOL
For me its keeping the floor clean!
Just mopped, scrubbed the stove, washed big pans that don't go in the dishwasher and have everything loaded or put away. I'm comfy too! Oops, no coffee made for this afternoon. Lots of time!
I love my Rumbas. I have both the vacuum cleaner and the floor scruber. I would give up my bed before I would give up these appliances.
Laughing. Someone once asked me if I would give up my dish washer or clothes washer. I immediately said clothes washer. I so hate to do dishes by hand that I would use a scrub board. But since that isn't going to happen......

:-)
I wouldn't give up the clothes washer - I hate laundrymats more than anything!
Badseed-laundry and domestic goddess? Wow. I can pull it off for a little while, but not forever, though when I was a group home "mom" years ago, I was pretty goddess like in my domestic abilities. It was a group home for 6 differently abled adult women to learn to live independantly. (I don't know what the correct term is now for "developmental disabilities") It was my favorite job of all time, besides teaching in a classroom.
Rumba would pack up and leave if it saw my floors (9 dogs and a cat...!)
Floors are on my dislike list only because it hurts my back. So a floor day=percocet day=no fun for stomach day. Thus, the tile matches the dirt and if it's kept swept, hardly anyone would realize how FILTHY the floor really is. :-)
Domestic goddess (I've been thinking about that since yesterday...lol)....
I have four cats. two dogs, & six birds. My Irobots, Roomba and Scuba, work great. I particularly like them because they get under things.
Beautiful table setting magoobu. Looks very inviting and "Better Homes & Gardens" appealing as opposed to my kitchen table or dining room table that are both generally piled high with books and projects and homework. There are times I have to think what kind of wood was used to construct either table because there's so much "stuff" on them.
the most annoying job in the kitchen is-
By far having to rerun the dishwasher because when I opened it up to unload it... a dog nosed in to check out what I was doing and sneezed or snorted into all the clean dishes. That really irks me to no end particularly if we were out of clean plates or flatware.
Also up high on the list of annoying jobs in the kitchen would be changing the light bulb in one lighting fixture directly over the sink because it is recessed and the cap fits too tightly and takes off skin on my finger tips or breaks nails when I have to try to pull it out. I hate that lighting fixture.
Cat snot low down on the atrium door windows is a big bummer too. You have to bend way over and down to spritz it and clean it and that position is real tough on the back.
Little army men stuck in the stove burners that you didn't know were there that end up getting fuzed to the burners. Those are real fun to pry off the stove.
Here's a tip for cleaning off kitchen counters that we use every year-
we completely clear all the counters of everything other than the bare necessities. We pile all of our everyday life into a laundry basket and walk it downstairs out of view. After the get together, we bring the laundry basket back up and spread our goodies back out on the counter. This works well when unexpected guests are coming over for a visit too. We have all too frequently stuffed the accumulations from our counter tops into our stove or microwave just to try to reduce the clutter for a few hours. Not exactly Suzie Homemaker style of housekeeping but it can work in a pinch.
LOL
Equilibrium, I do some similar tricks, including using nice fabric or a tablecloth to cover a pile.
Doesn't that look about the equivalent of a snake that has just eaten a nice big fat rat? Don't you end up with big humps under your table cloth? Sort of hard to set a table around lumps.
It does, but it's prettier than the pile.
I have three tables in the house (which is tiny), so one piled with everything from the other two and covered in creative way - works for me.
Now, the dirt these dogs stir up! That's hard to camo, except to invite guests only after dark with candlelight. There's a plus side to winter - the flying dirt will become low tracking mud.
I don't like cleaning off the bread boards after I roll out the noodles to dry. Just did that and just saw this thread.
Like a fool, I got a stainless steel refrigerator and I'm
forever having to wipe it down. It's not me that's messy -
the dogs know I keep food in there and there are nose
prints and slobbers all over the front every day.
The freezer door is always clean, but the bottom door
is a disaster area. I almost wish they would learn to use
the handle and take out what they want, just so I don't
have to keep cleaning that darned door every day !!!
Equil, ROTFL over the dog sneezes!!!
Mahnot, be careful what you wish for! :))
billy
i have to clean my dog's snot off the dr window where he sits...but i have him on a chair so i don't have to bend down...
We have those disposable plates on hand for such occasions however it never fails that the night it happens, we will be eating some sort of a chicken that needs to be cut with a knife. Those cheap paper plates don't hold up all that well to a knife.
Bummer having a stainless steel refrigerator door. I feel for you there. Nose prints and slobber don't show up hardly at all on that semi gloss textured white that Whirlpool sells. Not that they're not there... you just can't see them as well.
rq,,,
that's all that counts lol
tee he, took me a moment until I realized the r key is right next to the e. I agree, any surface that masks nose prints and slobber is my friend.
