What a Grand Day it was! The sun shone, the gab flowed and the plants got dug and planted. (Well, most of them)!
We were treated like Royalty! French coffee, kolache, caramel pecan and orange rolls, crisp bacon (for me),chili, brisket done to perfection. Can I come back?
I am looking forward to seeing this during the growing season to come, those sun lovers will think they've died and gone to plant heaven!
Here is moby's DH with the tiller, What a trooper they both were! Did you see the size of that bed?
On the Move!
Whoops--late as usual. Lincoln is a mere 5.5 hOurs from my house, so I camped out on Moby's floor with llilyfan on Friday night & spent the whole weekend digging. What a fun group!
Moby went from a high shade garden to full sun. She is going to go into SHOCK when those daylilies & iris start growing! I noticed she needs phlox, siberian iris & other sunny perennials. We dug all day on Saturday into the dark. Sunday morning found the ground covered in frost as we added more bulbs. COOOLD,wet fingers!
Moby, just mulch as deep as you can. Iris are tough, lilies are fine & daylilies need some time to root. Fingers crossed here...
Wow! So many cameras--no where to hide!
Gee, thanks Sue ~ nice fanny shot! LOL At least we weren't wearing shorts.
You're all such lovely gueats so you're welcome any time! I'll treat you just a nice and promise not to work you like I did. Better get out on this lovely day and plant some more lilies.
SUE:
those were great moons over Neb. shots
ROFL
Hey ~ there WAS a full moon last weekend! Must've been something in the air...
Heck, it was getting so dark on Saturday night before we gave up that we WERE planting by moonlight!
Sorry Mary, I was concentrating on the moving van in the background.........that's my story and I'm stickin to it!
Yeah, yeah, we know. Sneaky little bugger-- you were mighty fast with that camera...
How did the trail ride go on Sunday? were you asleep in the saddle after Saturday's efforts & the drive back?
I got a good one of your backside too Wanda, but decided to be nice and not post it. Now, just keep that in mind if you have any real unflattering ones of me.
Susan
If you got my backside, i reckon it filled the screen.
We had a great time at our trail ride, but I will admit to being quite exhausted by bedtime Sunday night.
And I see you are off to Nebraska again this weekend for the Dressage clinic. Girl, don't you ever stay home???
Not if I can help it!
The clinic was really informative and.............way over my head, but I did learn some things to do with Scorch during the winter. Come spring I think I will take a few lessons, so I will be gone again!
Mary dear, how is the planting and moving going? I was within 30 miles of you at one point this weekend!
Ha, and they call ME a gypsy! :) http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/668940/
Just about done! Through Wednesday, I worked in both gardens every day until dark. Come Thursday and Friday, it was cold and windy and I had an especially heavy work schedule so took a couple days off from digging.
Back at it today ~ finally decided where I'll plant the Orientals; the spring bulbs need to be poked in and three clematis need to be moved. I think that's all of it....
Any time you get this way Sue, you always have a place to lay your head.
Moby, so where did you put the orientals? Are you going to pull any of the orientals out of the big themed garden or just wait & see how the shade falls?
Everything in the theme gardens will stay just as they are. All the other orientals with no particular place to be will go on either end of the patio where I can enjoy the fragrance.
Good choice! That is some party patio---big bricked surface, covered & a place to barbeque. And Hot tub near by---Party time in Lincoln?
Mini RU on Moby big patio ?
LOL
You bet!
I'll bring the chips & dip & wine....
i will come and just whine about old age ? or not !
Some wine & dine, some just whine! :)
I'll dine while you two w(h)ine. Moby's DH is one great chef!
For many years (pre-DH) I've had a little ceramic plaque hanging in my kitchen the says "Never Trust A Skinny Cook" ~ I suppose I ought to pack that away, huh?
Yeah, it might be time!
That barbequed beef brisquet was incredible--so was the chili!
Moby--getting moved in yet?
Yes its time for furniture and bodies to move .
why do garden people spend thee months moving flowers
and 24 hours moving house stuff ?
What are our priorities ?
Tell the day we got the check for old house i was
there every day digging a posies i forgot .
Two antique rockers and computer station were left behind .
if i couldn't lift it or pay some one to, it got left trashed or sold.
Flowers are different i lifted plants weighed as much as me.
guess that why the call me grandma flowers not grandma furniture ?
LOL
You just know what is REALLY important in life. Furniture can be replaced, but some of your iris are too rare to lose.
Tazzy, you got the check? No more double motgages??? Happy Dance!!!
Finally...... it's DONE!
Signed all the papers this morning, got the keys and garage door openers so it's a done deal. :D
Yea Moby!!! Way to go girl!!! I think Tazzy needs to post another one of her fabulous Kittie faces in honor of that!
Diann
Way to go Mary!!!! I'm so happy for you. :-)
Yay! Can I come store my cannas in your bomb shelter?
Hooray Moby! Don't you feel just relieved? Ahhhhh...YOUR new place to call home. Celebrate!
