Evryone, Meet First Belle!

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

After watching this Brug for a few years now, and she has done remarkably well. I thought it was time for a real name of her own. A couple of you already have cuttings from last year & a few of you are getting cuttings this year, well now she actually has a name instead of her cross name.
It's First Belle for 2 reasons: She is always the first one to bloom for me, without fail. The 2nd is the cross. She appears oranger in the pic than she really is, she is more dark salmony pink.
Bug free (so far) hardy & grows like wildfire, blooms like crazy. She is covered in buds right now even. She takes full sun in my yard but the harsh late PM sun goes behind the trees by 5.
She & 2 of her cuttings have been outside in 32 degrees four times so far this fall. (I'm waiting for sheeting for the ceiling of my GH, it's been on back order for a month!) I have covered them with a thin plastic sheet on the nights that I know will be nearing 32, tho 2 nights they were not covered.
I think she deserves a name! Bj
This flower was starting to get old, but it was the only one I could reach to get an inside shot.
I can spell everyone....geeze!

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

I have one of the First Belle babies from BJ. She is everything BJ said and more. Has been in my basement for over a month and is still covered with blooms. The color is beautiful, endured the Tennessee Summer and bugs without a problem and bloomed most of the summer. I think that BJ has a real winnner with this one.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Love the color of this one. Gorgeous!

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

Bj, this is so interesting. The cutting you sent to me arrived with distinctly yellow flowers. Of course, they were all wilty and won't open, BUT, look at the color of them today! I didn't think they would change like that on a cutting that was shipped!

Oh, my.. that must be some cutting. The entire plant must be absolutely stunning! I hope to have one like that some day. I have some white cuttings that are starting to put out roots... very exciting for me.

Tammie

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

Well, the cutting just happened to include that end of the branch. I think Bj was trying to torment me. LOL. I'm really excited about my brug cuttings that I've received from a couple of DGers. I'm new to them, and I hope I'll be a good brug mom. That remains to be seen!

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

When I cut it back it had so many blooms on it I didn't have the heart to cut off every one, so I left one or two of the largest buds, The other cuttings are also blooming.

Does she have a scent? That would be some 'icing on the cake' if she did. Maybe when you cut her, you can leave some of the smaller buds on the cuttings to see if they will continue to form in good rooting conditions. It might be a fun experiment. It is almost time to pot my white cuttings... they are putting out lots of roots. It is so exciting to watch things grow. I have several places in my front that I think brugs will grow well. They get plenty of light and sun but are protected from the harsh afternoon West Texas Sun. We are also going to try them in my mothers rose garden area. It is an area about 25 x 16 ft that the roses are not doing well becase of the afternoon shade since the big tree shades it in mid to late afternoon but I think a brug may love it. I know brugs love sun but West Texas sun is a whole new ballgame. A little goes a loooong way. LOL

Tammie

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

take it - name it! love you! :-) Noone else has

Myrtle Beach, SC

Lewiston, CA(Zone 7b)

Yes, she has a wonderful fragrance, not soapy like some, but more perfume like.
Here is a pic of the Mom plant. The measurement was 1" under 12' as near as I could measure standing on the edge of the pot! That is a wine barrel she is planted in! Bj

Here's a pic without the "old person" sitting on the barrel! :)
