Andy, you must do good work!
Daily Musings Page 4
WOW! That's a tip!? Alright!!!!!
Andy, you need to find more customers like that, you'd have the laptop paid for in no time! Sorry I haven't looked at your photos, still on dialup here and it's just too frustrating :(
I've been busy too, but looking forward to more DG now that the weather is driving me back inside. Posted some pictures in the Mid Atlantic forum of the gardens I've been working on the past month if you want to see what I've been up to :) http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/668170/
Al, thought of you the other day - planted some Echinaceas!
pixie, that wreath makes me hungry! I was at Lowe's last week helping a friend pick up a new storm door and browsing through the magazines - found a special edition of Southern Living with tons of recipes I'd like to try. Not much for cooking when there's so much to do outside, but looking forward to testing my skills this winter.
I'm taking a break from all this work and heading to Phoenix tomorrow to visit my son over the weekend. Thought I'd really enjoy the warmer weather, now it looks like it's going to be close to 70 for a few more days here - darn I could have got more planting done!
Debbie
Debbie, went over to Mid-Atlantic..thanks for the link. Wow, have you been busy! I love the arbor..it has a very different look. (I always look for something different) Your view is spectacular!! I can't wait to see what all those hostas will look like. I love hosta more and more, but don't have a lot of shade areas. added a couple of new ones this year
Who's up for eating at Pixie's? that wreath is just toooo pretty. I used to fuss like that but now I'm doing good to get the old-favorite-tastes-really-good stuff on the table. pix, I made my stuffing with the sage sausage all the time...family loves it :-) one year I made a pastry in a xmas tree shape with pineapple & cream cheese decorated w/ maraschino cherries & green sugar. no pic.
Andy, on the Fresh pot of coffee thread I mentioned that I'm really appreciating friends, so for you and anybody else I may have missed there, ((((hug))))
gram
Gram, (((HUGS))) right back at ya.
Andy P
Thanks Gram - I think we have a good group here.
Debbie - oddly enough I was thinking about you and any new echinacea cultivar info you had.
rcn ~ checked out the Mid Atlantic forum..... Nice photo's and what a view!!! Just lovely.
The wreath was really easy to make, and I changed the ingredients a wee bit due to my picky taste buds.
I was in the drug store today waiting for a perscription so i browsed through the magazine rack. Lo and behold there was a paperback Pillsbury Holiday Cookbook on the shelf and it had the wreath in it! The recipe was from Pillsbury if anybody was interested.
Gram ~ (((for you)) This is a GREAT group of DG's in my HO!!
thanks pixie, i enjoy it :)
and I second the ((HUGS)) - you guys have alot more fun than the other Forums :)
Al, planted Sunset, Twilight and Sundown - had these guys for awhile and it's the first time I've finally got them in the ground! I think Rick planted out a few Harvest Moon that were kicking around as well. Sure look vigorous in the pots, so keeping my fingers crossed they'll do well - although Rick said I planted them too close to each other -heck, I don't want to see any dirt next year - I just want to see green! Also transplanted an old paradoxa that had been growing in way too much shade - poor thing moved it twice in the past month!
Debbie - I have those(what a shock), I've seen them grow together on their own pretty close so they should be fine. The new one that 's out there I'm waiting on is Green Envy, otherwise it's slow for spring. Hey - you know my Black Lace( -30 hardy plant) wilted from a frost which I thought was funny.
Debbie, you have a heck of a nice spot and view there, I'm jealous, lol.
I went to Best Buy today to look at Laptops. There was a nice Toshiba there with all the bells and whistles I wanted for $749 but when I set it up with all the software I needed it was over $1100. OUCH....
It looks like another used one for me.
On another note, these are my 2 Sweetgum trees that I planted 20 years ago.
Andy P
Very nice Andy! Mom's isn't that old, but she got lucky and got the one that has 3 shades of color. She used to go out and take a picture of it against my brother's house across the road to see how much it grew in a year.
Ouch is right on the price of the laptop. We're still running on the Gateway we got in 2000. We hope it has many more years of life in it. We had to send it back right after we got it. We had something major go wrong.
Pixie, Did you just call us "ho"s??
Debbie, Very pretty. Thanks for the link.
yes I did dave...I said "MY ho's" Just call me pimp Momma!!
I'm still trying to picture Bigcityal in Black Lace, never mind the Pixie pimp momma
Andy, your sweet gums are beautiful. I miss big trees. that's what I get for moving.
hmmm..Al in black lace??
easy now girl
Billy, I used to take yearly pics of my trees, too. They were so small when I brought them home, lol.
I put together show #12 today. "Bugs 2006" for bees, butterflies, skippers and other cool bugs. Same address, http://photoshow.comcast.net/fantasyfinishes/
I had a screw in a tire today. Luckily I noticed it before it went flat.
We had 1.2 inches of rain yesterday.
Andy P
Spent some time with your bugs, Andy. very cool! had to rewatch some of the earlier flower shows, too.
we had a fire drill at work today. alarm sounds like an air raid siren. and we actually had a fire truck show up. apparently the fire department does drills also. at least they picked a nice day. and in my new building I'm on the 2nd floor, which is much better for walking down than the 6th floor where they moved us from.
It was like a june day here today. Very warm and lovely.
I think we hit 70 today. I had to travel to Chinatown. I've actually been there quite a bit lately for a new client. It's nice to have authentic Chinese food.
Beautiful day here, too. I cleaned out the veggie garden (except for the broccoli) and filled the compost bin with leaves. I need a bigger bin, lol.
Andy Ph
Got above 70 here... I went an planted some Roscoea tubers today that I got from a fellow DGer who was thinning her plot out... I added a bunch of soil amendments (Perlite and Soil Perfector) to the soil for good drainage, planted them deep and put a bunch of leaves over the planting site, so hopefully they'll make it until spring (they should, since the AHS Encyclopedia of Garden Plants lists them as hardy to Zone 6.. That and the fact that they come from high altitudes of the Himalayas), but we'll see.
I also got a Skip Cherry Laurel and planted it as well.... Basically Cherry Laurel is an evergreen Cherry (Prunus Laurocerasus 'Schipkaensis') shrub that has waxy leaves that look like somewhat in between a Rhododendron and a Cherry leaf. These shrubs get small, purple cherries in the summer, but I still haven't determined if they are edible for humans or not as of yet... Birds love 'em, though.
Andy, your photos blow me away! The color and clarity are bright and beautiful! I like your background music too. I too chose bugs, and red, white, and blue.I wish we had speed dial. It takes forever to load and it's a bit sluggish tonight.
It finally rained all day. We had 6/10'' this afternoon. It was cold and windy all day. Yesterday was warm enough for shorts.
Wonder what happened to my box up above? I didn't use exclamations or try to send a photo.
Billy, What do you mean "Wonder what happened to my box up above"?
It's another beautiful day here. Maybe I'll help my neighbor paint his other garage. Maybe not. lol.
I have at least 2 more shows to assemble. Which would you like to see first, a "Flower" or "Wet" (after the rain) show? If the weather is bad tomorrow I may do another one.
HT, is the Skip Cherry similar to a Beauty Berry?
Andy P
Andy, Billyporter is looking at that box with the long extra space at the end and wondering why.
you're a good neighbor to even THINK about spending a beautiful fall day painting a neighbor's garage. I love your flowers but I think if you do 'wet' first we'll get some flowers, too. I vote for 'wet'.
Hikaro, I have to look up your plants to see if your sneaking in something that I want LOL
Andy,
Skip Cherry Laurel, or Skip English Laurel is notanything like a beauty berry... Basically, a beauty berry bush is a deciduous shrub that has clusters of pink berries all winter.... English laurel is an evergreen cherry type shrub (its scientific name is Prunus laurocerasus). The "Skip" variety (schipkaensis) is a hardy Russian cultivar... Normal Englis Laurel is hardy to zone 6, whereas this variety is supposed to be hardy to zone 5.....
Thanks, Gram, now I understand.
I'm leaning toward the "Wet" show too.
Al, that's pretty frosty, burrrr. It's sunny and in the 60s here.
I helped with the painting a little bit. I didn't realize that he was only doing 2 sides today. He was almost done by the time I got there. (I planned that right, lol)
I snapped this mushroom today. Growing under an old Cedar tree.
Andy P
Andy, I think that ones got a 'split' personality (groan)
Leave that mushroom alone! He is a fun guy!
(fungi) Double groan.
Gram, you are a funny girl, lol.
I've not been taking many pics lately but I like this one and shamelessly posted it everywhere. It's interesting what different comments get posted at different sites. Even here in the Photo forum ~ nothing yet.
Here is another shot that has not been posted anywhere.
Andy P
Billy, it looks like you have plenty of walnuts. They should keep you busy for a while, lol.
Is anyone else running into 'touchy' member posts? I had 2 occasions yesterday where someone seemed to be ticked off about innocent postings of mine. I'm very careful not to offend anyone and still ........
OK the Wet Stuff show is ready, same address.
Andy P
Andy, how could you possibly offend anybody? sometimes people will read something in no matter what you say. they wouldn't last long around the NE forum LOL
edit to add: another good show, Andy. thanks

very true - ignore it Andy - as much as I love this whole site, it takes all kinds and you can't please everyone! Sometimes there are people that are never pleased. I try to avoid them and not take anything they say to heart.
Andy, Wet was wonderful! Do they have a list of songs to chose from? I really like what you pick for your photos.
I agree, you are never anything but nice. Someone just had an off day, unless that's how they are.
Thanks everyone about the shows. Billy, yes there is a list of tunes to choose from, unfortunately I've used up the only ones I like.
I did not get offended, personally by the other member. I was baffled by his/her comments, I assumed he/she didn't read the other posts properly and felt frustrated. Not necessarily my posts, either. This went on for 2 days. Like you say, an 'off couple of days', lol. The conversation has since been resolved, I think.
When I get into a mental funk, I don't post very much. It's safer that way.
Remember last Summer when I posted a pic of a tiny bird that fell out of a tree right in front of me? The leaves fell off that tree yesterday and I can now see the nest, way up near the top. I can see it from the second floor window if I look up.
Andy P
Andy - I don't know if she was put in charge of the negotiations or took charge to help resolve the categories. Certainly everyone wasn't going to be happy with the choices. It's done now.
A dogs gotta do what a dogs gotta do. and Al's right..it's done. there was way too much debate anyway. and you were asked for your opinion.
