Nov. 4th, 2006 College Station roundup pictures!

Beaumont, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh GreenBud! What a beautiful brugmansia!!! I received a Dr. Seuss Brug from Nancy, though I haven't had a chance yet to look it up to see what it looks like, so they may be the same thing.

I had several photos that were just not good at all. I should have reviewed them and retaken some of them. It just didn't happen though.

Hello Jo, our Trish did not make it to the swap, she was missed by all.
Some others didn't make it either, I guess it was one of those days.

And the last picture, Mamajack and Floridian, arent they great? Mamajack got there pretty late, we were already packing to leave, so she didn,t have a chance to do much, but we did get to meet her, she is very nice.

I had so much fun meeting all of you and learning and talking gardening. All of you are so knowledgeable - thank you Trois and Josephine for the great walk and lesson in Texas natives! I really thought I wouldn't be tempted to bring home many plants. HA!! I spent a couple of happy hours this morning planting and getting the rooting, and seed planting started on so many plants I just had to have once I talked to everyone. Dave - I enjoyed your veggies for dinner tonight! I'm saving the seeds to see if I have any luck. There is so much talent and dedication in those on this site - thank you all so much for sharing.

Here's a pic of my humongous Dr. Seuss brugmansia - it's about to bloom again and will be even bigger than this. The start was given to me by my daugher (art-n-garden formerly of Lubbock - now in Colo Spgs) who received it from a DG'er and she also got me going on Dave's Garden. Jessica - can't wait to see those pink blooms of my own. If anyone else wants a start of Dr. Seuss, as you can see - there are plenty of starts to share.

I'm still smilin' about my time with all of my new gardening friends.

Josephine and Janet and Trois - what great pictures! Next time I'll bring my camera. Just for those who are thinking about coming for the first time - JUST DO IT! You won't be sorry! I offered seeds for the yellow butterfly vine - here's a pic of the vine growing on my smaller Dr. Seuss brug. The little yellow flowers on the vine and the green "butterfly" seedpods make a confusing but fun sight. When the pods ripen and turn brown, I'll send anyone seeds who want them. It dies back every year and comes out again in midsummer and pods up in the fall. Butterflies don't like it, but it's really pretty. My happiest new treasures are those I brought home for the growing butterfly garden in my back yard. Thanks so much everyone!

Oh my eyesight is so bad! That's not the butterfly vine. Here's another try. Turn your head sideways.... I apparently didn't rotate it in my file... I'm really tired and need to shut it down for tonight! Happy gardening all!

Oh Nancy! That is gorgeous! I knew those brugs were beautiful, but yours is breathtaking! I will have to pick out a spot that will showcase it, as it deserves. I wonder how many times I am going to go look at that photo before this night is over. HAHAHAHA

Thanks again Nancy. I'll show you where it's ultimate home is when it gets there.

The vine you showed reminds me of something that I have that gets little yellow flowers. I don't remember seeing the little green lime looking pods, but I don't think I was quite as aware when it bloomed because I hadn't joined DG yet. This is a photo of mine. Is it the same?

Nancy! That 'Dr. Suess' brugmansia is Outstanding!!! Thank you so much for the rooted cutting you gave me - I am so looking forward to seeing it grow into a beautiful shrub like yours!

I think I smiled the whole way home! I spent a couple hours in the garage last night getting everything potted. I made out like a bandit without even trying! And I had a great time meeting everyone, too. Thank you again, everyone!! :) I'll definitely be at the Spring Round Up!

I look forward to doing this again next spring.

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

It looks as though a good time was had by all. I really enjoy seeing the pictures and putting the faces together with the names.
I am miserable that I wasn't there, but young son woke late in the night with a fever, and I had to be nurse mom.

I sure hope there is a spring round up!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Dawn, I was worried about you!!! Sorry about your son, but we all know mom's are your first job.
Have no fear your Dessert Trumpet is safe w/me. I'll probably overwinter it in my new GH, if I ever get it up! Hehehe

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Dawn, I am sorry you didn't make it, we missed you, I had brought your tray, the one that you left at the other swap.
Oh well, maybe the next swap, or if you ever are in this neck of the woods, please stop by, we would love to see you.
Josephine.

Nevada, TX(Zone 8a)

Linda, thank you, you're the best!
A GH? Lucky you. That's on my wish list, the best I could do this year was enclose a portion of my porch.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Lovin' all the pics guys! I've got some too but need to download them onto the computer. Hope to do so tonight. A huge thanks to everyone I received plants and crafts from!!!

:) Kim

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I hated to miss the RU too, but I am really enjoying the pictures to catch up with who is who. I bet we will have close to 60 people this spring if Dave will put up with us. We had over 40 for the one last spring and I only counted so many new faces at this one. The weather is a draw in the Spring for sure. Did Dave give anyone a hint that we would be meeting in the spring??

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I did not hear anything, maybe someone else knows.
Josephine.

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

I think we decided to just play it by ear for the spring.

I too was sorry I wasn't able to be there. I hadn't been feeling well the last couple of weeks, and it was best that I stayed at home :( I missed all of you too!

Trish

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks for sharing some photos, ya'll.. :) Its always nice to connect faces with names. I really wanted to go as well....but had to work the whole weekend. :p So I'm a'waitin' for Spring myself...and keeping my fingers and toes crossed that there will be another chance next year. :)

Melanie

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry you have been ill Trish, I will put you in my prayers.
....As for a RU in the Spring and playing it by ear....we will have to keep bending Dave's ear ever chance we get then. LOL!
