Some More Plumeria Flowers

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Now we're green instead of the plummies.

Awe, you are so nice and so gracious, Brad. That is really nice of you to say. What a great compliment from someone that I respect so much. I tend to irritate people sometimes, when I become too driven or head-strong, so I have to work on that, but it is really nice to have friends who accept me regardless of my annoying tendencies:-) Thanks for the compliments about my yard! I really like it a lot too:-)

You had a great blooming season this year, and I am looking forward to seeing all your pics next year as well. I don't know how you do all that you do -- basically working two full time jobs at once. Wow -- 25- and 40-gallon pots! That's incredible! I've been hesitant to go up to the 25-gallon size as I have no room, but a select few might get those next summer. These plumies sure are a lot of work; aren't they? Enjoy your rest, Brad. You deserve it! By the way, congrats on registering those four Oz plumerias with the Plumeria Society of America! That was no easy task, I'm sure.

Thanks, Jeri! That is Singapore above, a lovely large flower with a wonderful fragrance. Here is Brad's Gold Coast Peachy, another awesome bloomer with a great fragrance.

Hey Clare, actually it's 6 I got registered-- LOL One of them you just pictured! Tell me, don't ya' jus love GCP? The fragrance is pretty intense, especially on warm mornings or evenings. That little tree will bloom its head off. Mine has been blooming since April! The inflos are big and many flowers open at once. I love the orange heart and pink petals. A definite winner! When did yours start blooming? Do you also have Heart of Gold?

Brad

Oh, my mistake! Congrats on the six! GCP is awesome;-) I just got another pic of it today that I'll post tomorrow. You are right that it is a fantastic bloomer with a great fragrance. I just love it. Mine just started blooming on 11-08, and you are right about the flowers opening at once. It is a keeper for sure. I don't have a HOG! (How funny those initials are;-D)

Now I can see them! It's lovely!

I have never seen were they change color start out pink and end up white.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Dana, the fade factor is in every flower. All plumeria flowers lose their color as they age. Some hold their color better than others. I have a few that fade to white. The light pinks and light yellows do this more noticably. I guess it makes the inflo interesting-looking.

Here's a dark red called 'Duke' that fades to practically white.

Duke is amazing.

Nice collection Clare. Here is one from down the street.

I would like to see them more often, they grow very well here. A nice, trouble free tree.

Oh Dale! The one down the street is very pretty!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Beautiful pics, Dale! That first one is probably Cancun Pink, also known as Playful. I have three of them in bloom right now. They seem to be an early bloomer before all the rest have opened.

It's a nice big flower, but it has a poor keeping quality because the petals are so thin.

Make that four of them in bloom right now. They are from several different sources too, and they are all blooming at the same time.

This is an Aussie unknown, probably Aussie Pink:

This one is an unknown that goes by a few different names including Cinnamon, Pink Widow, and Pink Starfish. It has a nice carnation fragrance.

Oh Clare....I hope that my Duke gets flowers this year...fingers crossed!! Beautiful pics as always!!!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Chantell! I bet your 'Duke' will get flowers this year! Mine is going to flower again on last year's inflo! For some reason, my 'Duke' always flowers in the fall. This will be a first time that it has stopped blooming in December and then started again in the spring.

How exciting is that?!! So thrilled for you to be surrounded by those gorgeous blooms!!
