Of course, it's because people don't like to be reminded that they are lacking in some of the basic human courtesies.
And the shame of it is, they are usually too ignorant or stubborn to admit they ever did anything wrong.
It's like the guy driving down the road, running the red light, almost colliding with you, then he flips you the bird.........for being in his way.
Unfortunately, these people are in all walks of life.
:^((((
Lousy email ettiquette...
Unfortunately ignorance and rudeness is everywhere. :(
I saw this thread pop back up and had to comment. I posted on Nov 5 about a book I had not received. It was paid for on on October 18th. When it was close to the time it should have arrived, I wrote the seller and received no comment. A few days later, when it was late, I wrote the seller again and received no comment. I went ahead with negative feedback (although it probably does no good with a "private" seller) and also filed a claim. I just got word a few days ago that my money was being returned.
Granted it was less than $5 but it's the principle of things! I still can't believe it has been more than 2 months.
Hmm. Maybe the seller was writing the book and you were pressuring him?
LOL.
Just kidding. I know how that feels. Anything, something, some kind of notice
would be better than sitting in the dark. I've confessed to a customer before that
I literally dropped the ball on their buy, even calling the person on the phone to
express my sincere apology. Why can't folks take thirty seconds to email.
"Hey, sorry, I broke your item" or "Golly, gee, the dog ate it" or something.
Anything.
Hugs to all who hold the door for others! :-)
Not email etiquette but along the same lines. I ordered a product for my grandson that has been shipped by FedEx to my house and received an email from FedEx for tracking. It was due to be delivered yesterday and did not arrive so I checked tracking again. According to their records the driver tried to deliver the package at 6:44 last evening and no one was home, excuse me, I saw the blasted truck drive right by here twice at around 5:00 and me standing next to the street. I should send a blistering email to FedEx but I'll hold my tongue unless it dose not get delivered today.
Don
Badseed-
Many of the people selling used books or media items on the big sites don't actually have the items. They list an item for more than they think that they can buy it for at half, and then they go onto half and buy the item and ask the person selling it there to ship it to their "buyer" and not to put an invoice or return address on the package. I had a similar experience and when I got the item I realized that the reason it took the seller so long to respond re shipping was because he didn't know when it was shipped.
They also list what they do have on numerous sites and don't keep track of their inventory.
I didn't know that.
This person just had random odds and ends sort of stuff. I was buying the book for my 11 year old and as most of the other offerings seemed to be geared to this age, it left me wondering if the seller might be a teen. Their feedback was marked private but I did find some comments and their rating was like 99% or I would not have bought from them.
At any rate, they need to learn to be good for their word, typed or spoken and send out items after they accept someone's money.
Oh, I wasn't defending the practice. I avoid people who do that now that I am aware of it.
Private feedback is a red flag that the seller should be avoided.
I was not trying to be argumentative, just explaining why I didn't go at them full force with both horns on full poke. LOL
WUVIE, I recently got a dmail that seems to proceed from the very same person (non registered member): no greetings, no email etiquette at all. When I made him aware of that, he simply left negative feedback for me although I have never ever traded with him or sold him one single item.
It seems the best thing is to just let such dmails unanswered.
Have a great Silvester night and a wonderful 2007!
Ursula
I agree with some of the above posters...... just ignore them and they will go on to something else........ it is no fun for them if you don't play. Also, such people are a waste of your valuable time and energy. Stewing about it and sending emails just indicates to them that they are of some importance when they are not even worth the time it takes to read their emails. :-)
Ursula, I would point that out to Dave and I bet he would remove it for you. Leaving feedback like that is just uncalled for!
Thanks, mgh. I have alredy informed the Administration (sent a copy of 'our correspondence') and trust this will be solved in due time.
Honestly, I don't mind giving as much information as possible to anybody that requires it. However, I think the place to do it is on the respective forum so that many other Gardeners can benefit (or disagree LOL) with my advice. Another way I have found is to add the required information in the Plant Files, as a comment, for the same previous reason: more people will benefit from the advice I can offfer (and I don't have to reply X times to the same question LOL).
It is just the way people ask. If they are kind, I am kind. If they have no manners, I will ignore them from now on. Lesson learned!
Hugs to everybody,
Ursula
Ursula, of all the people who could have got bad feedback, you are the last person I'd think of to receive it, you are always so kind and generous!
(I will write soon, I've been faffing about too much this past week)
A Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year to you all!
You always make me blush, Baa. Thanks for having such good concept about me.
Have you read your dmail? I sent you one to let you know I recently added the Leontochir ovallei sowing info on the 'comments section'. Dr. Riedemann, Dr. Aldunate and S. Teillier have just launched a wonderful book on our Flora from the Northern part of Chile.
Big hug,
Ursula
Ursula, I'm so sorry they did this. Perhaps Dave's
will clear that one, as it is obviously posted by someone
with a bug in their britches.
One would think being the representative for a company that
they would have a few manners. Instead, they have advertised
themselves in a manner I read states "Don't bother ordering
from this company."
Ah, Karma.
Wuvie, this and a few other things were left behind with the 'old year'.
Today is such a beautiful and silent day after all the firecrackers and loud music last night! My balconies are full of blooming Platycodons and .... I gave myself a blooming Stephanotis floribunda (Madagascar Jasmine) last Tuesday. It is not as hot as the previous days, so I am really enjoying it.
A great day to start 2007!
Hugs,
Ursula
Ursula,
Sounds like you are on the right track indeed!
Though it is cold here (37°), we are nice and warm with the woodburning
stove and sunshine coming into the office. It's even better that our orange
tree is blooming in the very next room, and the smell is just intoxicating!
HAPPY , HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS!
:-)
