Today I ve passed my driving test...oohhh wauw finally.. I 've failed three times. I ' m so relieved..it was getting quite expensive (E 37,- for one hour lesson) an discouraging..but ahhhh...I 've got it now. Did 'nt believe my ears when I 've heard that I 'm finally ready to have my driving licence.
Yes yes yes...I 've got it !
A very big congratulations goes out to you Saya!! Imagine the freedom you will have!
Congrats. Now you can legaly drive over a 100 MPH on the Autobon.
Congrats on your dl..we know where your going first..plant shopping.
Congratulations, Saya!! My DH and I were in the Netherlands this summer and I would not dare to drive there! LOL Drivers there scare me! LOL
Watch out for the other drivers. Saya!!
Congratulations!!!
Bonnie
Gefeliciteerd!!!! (I'm sure I spelled it wrong, ha ha!)
Kooger, spelled it right!!!!
Wat slim zeg!
:) lol
Bunny rabbits of the road beware!
Congrats.
Don
In case state-side folks don't know.... it's very difficult to pass that test. In comparison, tests here are a 'piece of cake'!
More of a piece of cake in Texas now that the law was passed that if mommy or daddy signs a piece of paper that says they taught you how to drive you no longer have to take driving lessons or a driving test, you just go down and take the written part and they issue the license.
Don
yikes! that's scary!!!! We were down thru Dallas to Houston to Orange and back again the last week of Dec. and I couldn't believe how many 4 wheelers cut us off. Do they not know what an 18 wheeler can do to a 4 wheeler?
Texas courtesy and road behavior has long sense died in this state. I remember when it was around. Could be worse I've been to Houston and their nuts.
I was stationed in Chicago when I was in the Navy for awhile and I remember an accident on the Schgoll highway (I think I remember the spelling right its been many years ago) anyway the traffic was at a stand still and I had never been in a mess like that before, but being from Texas I let people in front of me who where trying to get off the highway and the next thing I knew I had people throwing beer bottles at my car and screaming at me for being courteous to others by letting them in front of me, so it could be worse.
Don
lol yup!
DH gets so angry around here because people don't use a blinker...He'll start mutterin about signalizers (LOL English isn't his native) and just cracks me up when he gets on his high horse
The signal in a truck has to be turned off manually and every so often you'll hear on the CB - "you're gonna run out of blinker fluid anytime now" - to someone who forgot to turn it off - always gives me a chuckle.
the funniest accident i saw waswhen i was staioned in italy. the drives there are just terrible. at the end of a soccer game people drive like crazy to get out of the stadium and also around it. two fiats collided head on on the sidewalk. they weren't even driving in the street.
No fair telling you childbirth horror stories to a woman who just got pregnant! Take your traffic accident stories to a new thread, lol! ;)
Congratulations, Saya! I love that the expectations of drivers are so high where you live! You're now amongst the elite. :) Safe driving to you!
Congrats, Saya! Agood thing . . .
Thanks for all your congrats..Unfortunately shortly after writing this message..I got hospitalized...Ooooh NOT due a car accident.."just" due illness ..heartproblems.. I 'm so glad that I have my own car now...otherwise it's biking again..so much easier to drive..special when the weather is bad..
Wow..it's better not to drive in Mexico..driving education should be very solid..thorough..it saves many lives..In Netherlands drivingstandards are high..even so is the examination..not only driving skills are tested but also your theoritical skills like do you know all the rules, the signs, your car..Allthough there still are people (mostly youngsters) that have such a irresponsible attitude that they should 'nt drive at all.. At the moment I still have a beginners permit..that means that if traffic police will give me three times a ticket because I drive to fast, drive to short on a car in front, cause danger, inconvenience to other drivers and (of course) cause a car accident...my driving permit is taken in..maybe I may start all over with taking lessons and exams..maybe not..After a period of 5 years I'll get my real permit and I will be not as hard punished if I do something wrong..
Kooger you've spelled it wright! BEDANKT!
THANKS YOU ALL!
Sorry to hear about the heart problem. Take care of your self and be safe.
Don
Saya, hope you are feeling better now.
The US has different rules for younger drivers, but I like the 5 year rule that The Netherlands has.....sounds like a good idea for new drivers.
Oh dear, sorry to hear you have been ill and hope you're well on the way to good health! ......I was surprised I got it right. It's been so long since I've used that word. Many moons ago, we wrote it in every card - Dutch being my first language - but non-use has severly limited my vocabularly. I still find myself trying to say...."gefeliciteerd met U vader's/oma's etc. verjaarday" to my kids and DH but it just doesn't come out the same in English and I like that custom so much. It includes everyone in the celebration of the event. Do you do that in your family? or was that just a pecularity of my family? :)
Thanks all for your best wishes ..the cardiologist has prescribed me other medicin and I 'm feeling much better now...and he has allowed me to drive with it!
Recently they 've sharpened the alcoholpromillage from 0,5 to 0,2 if you have a beginners permit. But I think it's best to drink any alcoholic if you have to drive.
Kooger, yes it 's still a custom overhere to congrat everyone in the family with the celebration event. Don't you do that ? So..when my son/father has his birthday I'll get congrats too
" gefeliciteerd met de verjaardag van uw zoon/uw vader" or how you say it " met uw vader's verjaardag". "U/uw" (pronoun/possessive pronoun) is the very polite form for people not close related. "Je/jouw" is more usual for family or people close related : )
That's not a custom here at all. Just the actual birthday person gets the congrats, no one else. It always feels awkward to me to not include everyone, so I say it to all our kids anyway. :) They just think mom is kinda odd sometimes. lol ....thanks for the "U" and "Je" explanation, I probably knew that many years ago, somewhere in the cobwebs of my brain. :)
I think there is 'zero' alcohol tolerance in IA if you have a driving permit, and not a full license.
Yes..I think it's a good custom overhere ..we shake hands with everyone with congrats at happy occasions like birth, marriage, birthdays ..so not only when there 's sadness..when dear ones have passed away..we shake hands with our condolances..You do that last one too I think ..
Soo ..if you need help with Dutch language just drop me a line..
Zero alcohol tolerance is the best (if you're driving :-) )!
Yes, there's always hand shaking with condolances. The other times kinda vary by custom and region too. DH's parents are from a church with a similar background as Amish and Mennonite and they shake hands every time they see each other, especially at church. In our area most hand shaking is done when meeting someone new, especially in business. Sometimes I'm not quite sure if I should shake hands or not. :)
