Costume party?

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

We were invited to a costume party but had to decline because of prior obligation. What do you think are some of the more clever costumes you have seen? I need idea's for the next invite.

I dressed up like a birthday party table for a band parade one year...

Put a huge round styrofoam form around my waist, decorated it like a table (with plates, placemats, napkins, silverware, etc), and wore a bright shirt & party hat. :) Tooted my party-horn all the way through the parade.

This ought to be a good topic. Can't wait to hear some more ideas. I have a hard time becoming creative when faced with something like this. I do want to share a story about my youngest son who is now 16 .

I can remember each year at halloween having to come up with about 3 or 4 ideas for him because he couldn't make up his mind. We had lots of fun the week or two before halloween designing his costumes. The funny part of story is that each year when it finally came time to go trick or treating, he usually ended up wearing a sheet with eye holes cut out. Hilarious!!!

I do remember one year when he wanted to be a pirate and I made a hook for his hand. I just took the top half of a wire clothes hanger with the hook bent and covered it with several layers of silver duct tape. That came out being pretty crafty, I thought. All he had to do was stick it up his sleeve.

I will give this some more thought and be back if I can think of any thing else that I can think of that might be considered fun.

thank you for the topic Anastatia.

Since I'm almost 9 months pregnant right now, DH and I are going as Anakin and Padme Skywalker. I figured that the timing was perfect and I had better do it while we can. I like things for us that go together. A couple of years ago I was water (blue flowing dress, blue wig, etc.) and he was chocolate (dressed all in brown with 'Hershey' written on his shirt) from the book/movie "Like Water for Chocolate". We've also been Morticia and Gomez Addams. I made a huge cigar from Spanish moss and brown paper. I always thought it would be cute have our family be the whole Addams Family but this is kid number three so we'll have too many (unless someone decides to be cousin It or something).

DD is being a snowstorm this year. Originally she was going to be a snowflake but decided that with a storm we could just cut out lots of smaller flakes and pin them all over her ghost costume from last year.

The funniest was the year we lived in France. Hallowe'en isn't nearly as big over there. People also figure that you should basically be wearing orange or black or be something scary. They didn't really get it when we dressed up as a faun and wood-nymph and had a baby ladybug.

We're going to a Hallowe'en dance tonight. I'll see if there's anything good there.

a friend of mine and her DH are going as Coneheads.

Here is my DGS last year....he wouldn't be just ANY pirate...had to be Jack Sparrow!

DD & I love costuming...so any time we are in thrift stores and we see something that would be good for costumes we buy them and put in our "costume Boxes" (in MY shed ofcourse!)

I won't get to attend the costume party tonight, but I did all three of them a costume....DGS will be a Chinese Emperor, DD and her DH will be in togas.....I should be able to post pictures tomorrow! Jo

did you find the pirate shirt in a thrift store or make it?

Crossville, TN

We found the shirt and vest thing in Salvation Army Store....I sewed lace on the sleeves. The white sash I made from unbleached muslin I already had....also I had the fringe....the boots were a real find....new in the same store for $5.00....good fit.

This is a very fuzzy picture of all 3 as they were leaving last night (in a hurry)....they looked real good. Jo
