I just wanted to comment on the Glossary and tell you how much I love how it's set up. It not only encompasses all the neccessary addenda, it leaves room for growth. Very well done. Thanks! :)

I can't figure out what has happened to the letter P in Hemiptera, Diptera, etc.???? It's always been pronounced that I know of...and some etymologies are wrong...like hymenoptera, ants, wasps, sawflies, etc., the listing says hymeno-ptera, membrane winged, are from Latin words. They are not. This Latin name is from Greek roots...
The entry for diptera basically is "two-winged" It should make it clear that diptera is an order of insects, having two wings, called FLIES...

claypa, those were my doing. I was using some references that probably weren't thoroughly vetted (and I should have known better), and the pronunciations...I guess I was taking an afternoon nap while I was working on them ;o)

I feel like such an idiot, I stayed up all night trying to come up with definitions without plagiarizing sources, looking at etymologies....entomological etymologies...
One idea I had is to ignore wether a word is Greek, or Latin, or Incan (yes, Incan...) and just have the definitions? They all become 'Latinized' in binomial nomenclature anyway... Nerd Alert lol

Chuckle. You did great! I did reformat your definitions a little bit, to keep them standardized with how we've treated Botanary entries. They've all been released so you can see them in all their glory.

In cases of "latinized" vernacular names, that's typically how we've explained them in Botanary: e.g., "The latinized form of [x], an Incan vernacular name for the [bug name]."
