And here. . . the sandwich bar! Exoctic breads to put your sandwich on as well as exotic sauces, mustards, and dressings! The baked beans I made went well with it. Good job George!

SoCal brought wonderful fruit and the ultimate was when Quen showed up with Cream Puffs. The downside was that winds had broken off my plumeria and I had 7 or 8 cuttings to give away! Peeps went away happy.

George has a new kitty that attended and our Molly dog sniffed around the 8 week old kitty. (she just wanted to eat her food)

Seeds were collected from my poor looking garden, but I think people went away happy.

It was a WONDERFUL day for me! DG people are so great!

Well, that is strange. I answered your D-mail Arlene but when I o look now the answer is not there. Things were slow around that time, Dave was mentioning server problems. I wonder if it went to limbo. Oh well, things turned out really well. I and my group had a great time. Was it really two years since the last get-together? Time certainly flies.

Thanks for having us.

George, you are really a sweetheart and I love the way you interact with your new friend, Dawn. I feel proud to know you.

Arlene, you couldn't have been more hospitable, what a pleasure putting a face to the name. The food was delicious, the chicken was wonderful. Oh, everything was wonderful, the wine, the company, the day, the conversation...everything! Hopefully soon we'll be able to do another, hmmmm, maybe here at my home, hmmmmm!
Thank you Arlene for a great Saturday. It was nice to talk to Sue and Ginny and my buddy George. And of course Donna, always a blast! Good to see Qyuen, she's so cute!
Talk to you all soon and thanks again.

...oh and yes, I'll post the recipe for the bread, it was a "garden herb loaf." Glad you enjoyed it. I'd also like the recipe for the caprese! And can you bring some tomatoes back from Iowa?! LOL

Covina, CA

It was so good to see you all again, and bless George for including me in the invitation. Loved the picture of the sandwich ingredients that George and I brought. It did make me feel guilty that I hadn't prepare something more lavish when I saw all of the other wonderful goodies that were provided.

Well, I'm ready to hit the bed for the night, but had to check in to see if everyone survived our great luncheon.

Thank you Arlene for putting this small group together with some wonderful old friends. It was a small group, but it was nice to be able to just sit and talk gardening and DG things.

The food was so good! :-) Thank you all for the extra pounds. lol

Jasperdale called this evening to see if I was still going to Arlene's tomorrow for the small RU....he had the date wrong, but still wouldn't have be able to make it as he was in Thousand Oaks working on his sister's Anniversay set up. He asked because he was supposed to bring me the Watsonia's for Louise and I. I told it was too late, but I did bring him his bulbs from Louise. He is going to try to come on Tues. to pick them up.

Hope to see you all again real soon,
Donna

Still working on the pottery tip. It's called Pacific Clay. She said it was about a 30 minute drive from here. 91 to 15 S and before Elsinore; maybe part of Corona.

She is going to call her brother to get a little more information.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Great Arlene. Maybe we could go this week if she finds out where it's at.

Orange, CA(Zone 10b)

It was great to see all the friendly faces of the local DGers. I wish I had more time yesterday to chit chat with everyone. It was all too short. I did miss all the yummy foods but thank you for posting the pictures, Arlene.

But, I'm glad I came because now I know not to worry about my yellowing grapevine. Of course, grapes die down in winter. I'm such a duh, sometimes. And, I also came away with a couple of plumeria sticks, a seed pod of Variegated Bower Vine, and a few garden huckleberries which I will save the seeds. Thank you for taste testing those berries and telling me about them, George.

Donna, it's always a blast to see you. Hopefully we'll be able to get together with Arlene for some garden/plant shopping trips.

Well, Donna . . . went in and learned how to put more pictures in my garden journal so you can click here (I hope) and it should take you to the picture of the pergola so you can see how the climatis crawled over the top and the pink morning glories woven in between. It is not Sweet Autumn Clematis as that flower is a little larger. This clematis is very tiny, fine, whispy, like a cloud. Lost the tag but maybe someday I

Quyen, the day would not have been complete without your arrival.

Donna,
We could work it into our Tuesday if you want. Maybe Quyen would be available to go also?

They are a manufacturer of brick, clay pavers, ceramic and clay pots. The have a "Seconds" room and that is where my friend got monstrous pots for $5.

She says it is "hit and miss" . You should call first to be sure they are open because they are not always open to the public.

I will telephone them tomorrow and see what I can find out.
