As Ron Said, A Whole New World...

As I look at pictures in macro of the morning glorys I grow, I find the detail and color ranges fascinating. Before the computer bug bit me, my life was going in the direction of the life sciences.

In the picture below, emerging leaves on S. campanulata, I'm curious about the very definitive demarcation between cell types going from stem to leaves. In looking at other seedling pictures, the cell differentiation is either blended or not at all. I have also noticed what looks like a sepal on the opposite emerging leaf. The confines of the pot it is in keeps me from photographing from other angles without doing harm. I can't wait til it's ready to be transplanted into its final home so I can get a better look at the other side.

On the other hand, and from another point of view .. it sure looks like some weird pterodactyl.

Very cool pix, X!! I can see it already....classifying your JMG's by pigment distribution on the stems....solid....spotted....striped.....! It gets addictive!

This is a developing flower bud from a Murasaki Jishi plant earlier this year.. - Arlan

X - The 'Stictocardia leaf snouted pterodactyl' looks cool(!)...I've noticed that the Stictocardia have distinctive looking leaves...the only other MG with similar leaves is the very closely related Argyreia...

atenkley- - great closeup...the inner sepal in the center is clearly overlapped by the 2 outer sepals and the closeup shows the 'vestigial' smaller lower bract that is often a demarcation point for pigmentation...wonder what the critter in the pedicel petiole junction is...a tiny wasp(?) perhaps...

TTY,...

Nice! Why is that bud glossy looking? I'm going to have to take a closer look at my next emerging buds and see if they are glossy too!

X - the gloss you are seeing is the reflection from the natural wax/lipid like substances in the corolla that can look like moisture..
