Add to my wish list button?

Dear Dave,

Would it be possible to add a button on Plant Files that we could click to quickly add a plant to our wish list? I know it's possible somehow to go into our diaries and add plants to a wish list but I'm hardly ever there and it would be nice not to have to interrupt the flow. Also it would be nice to have a link to send to my curious family so I don't get socks/underwear for Christmas.

Also- how come some forum entries require a preview and some just let you post immediately? Just curious.

I like that idea, at the moment i send myself d-mail to remember my wish list and bookmark threads on firefox, but a button or bookmark within DG would be a lot easier and not for just for plant files but threads or favorite sellers too.

I'll defer the "wish list" suggestion to Dave, since it's a programming issue.

But I can answer your other question, (I think, anyway!) You are only required to preview your post when you're launching a new thread - it's a way to ensure your thread makes a good first impression ;o)

The preview is optional on any post after the initial one.

ohhh, I like a wish list button from plant files!! Maybe something tat goes into a list that can be printed out.

Or something that goes into your "wanted" list on the plant tradelists. Lol, I could easily see myself getting carried away if that function is added.

I think the add a plant to your wishlist feature is already there?

In my tradelist, I have this set up

Wishlist (0)

* Plants (92)
* Seeds (0

Then when I'm searching through PlantFiles and see a plant that I want to get, there's a link at the bottom of the plants page that says "Add this plant to your tradelist"

Click on that link and it will take you to your tradelist page where you can choose which category you want to put it in. (You have to set up the categories ahead of time).

Click on the category that you want it to go into. In this case, I would put it in the in the category Wishlist, subcategory "Plants"

You can also add plants to your journal in this way, only click on the hyperlink that says "Add this plant to your journal"

I know this works, because I do it all the time. Right now I have added 92 plants to my wishlist this way.

Thank you, that's just what I needed. For some reason, I find the whole journal side of the site confusing and so I don't do much with it.

You're welcome Maggie. I found the journal a bit confusing at first also, but once you use it for awhile, it's pretty easy.

If you have any trouble adding a plant to your tradelist, or setting up categories in your tradelist, let me know. :)

I too have awful problems with the journal. I'm not of the computer age, so much of it befuddles me. Any help out there? I could really use it.

Have you read the threads in the Journals and Diaries forum? There's tons of helpful information in there, and that would be a good place to start.
