Plant Scout

Hi Dave and Terry,

I sometimes wonder why there is not a drop down menu in PlantScout like the drop down menu in Plantfiles? I ask because you have to know exactly what you want to buy in order to use the PS feature. Often, I am looking for vendors who sell bulbs, veggie seeds, other gardening items, etc. and I want to look at other places besides the Top 40 because I like to check pricing and variety.

Sometimes, I try and narrow my search using Plant files (again you need to know the item name), then I look over the pictures to find the right one, then I click on the picture and then I look to see which vendors sell that product and then I cross reference it in Watchdog. Just wondering...

P.S. - Also, maybe I keep missing it, but I don't think PlantScouts has the drop down option for "bulbs" either.

Thank you for your time.

Megan, you might be better off doing your searching in Garden Watchdog instead for some of what you're doing--for example if you want to find a bunch of vendors who sell bulbs but you're not looking for a specific one, you can do a search for bulb vendors in GW, then you'll get a whole bunch of listings which you can sort by ratings, etc. When you go to a vendor's listing in Watchdog it'll tell you if they have stuff in Plant Scout, and if they don't you can go directly to their website to order stuff instead. I find Plant Scout most useful when I already know specifically what I want to buy, then I look for it in PF and see who sells it. But if you're shopping for general stuff sometimes GW is a better bet.

You are absolutely right ecrane and I thank you very much for pointing that out to me. You don't know how many times I took all those steps and then got so frustrated I just gave up in discouragement. Boy do I feel foolish... well it won't be the last time I feel that way, ha, ha, ha. At least I'm among friends.

Edited for spelling.
