Quality cordless headset telephone....does one exist?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Hello all,

I'm searching for a quality cordless headset telephone, but having
no luck. I found a little thing that plugs into your phone, but to the
person on the other end, I sound like I'm sitting inside of a barrel.
One tiny piece goes into your ear, and a wire is supposed to be
in front of your mouth, but never stays put.

I don't want to carry around the phone itself in my pocket, I want
something lightweight that will actually fit on my head so I can
move about and clean house or whatever while talking.

One would think with all this technology they could come up
with a good phone. What do many of us want to do when we
get on the telephone? Clean. And just think how clean our
homes could be while getting caught up on the housework?

Suggestions, anyone?

Many thanks!

Do you mean for a home phone or a cell phone?

Hello Sarah,

A home phone.

:-)

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

I have an AT&T phone (model E560)
I bought the home base & 2 extensions. The extensions don't need a phone jack - just an electric outlet for the charging base. If I remember correctly, you can have up to 4 extension linked to the home base.

I keep one by the back door & grab it when I go out.
It also comes with a handy belt clip that I sometimes use when I'm gardening.
The other is in the room where my PC is. This way I don't have to worry about the filter for the DSL line since no jack is needed..

The voice clarity is very good.
It operates at 5.8GHz. Don't get anything lower than that.

I have carried it next door to my mother's house & was able to make & receive calls with no problem.

In fact, I have walked as far as 100 feet from my front door & was still able to hold a conversation. It started to fade in & out after that.

I'm very happy with it.

Wuvie, if you find one of those, let me know. I always end up with the phone ringing, me working, and have to stay within certain boundaries. I think you want an earpiece, and a microphone and wear it, and answer the phone with just a click on a belt held base. Right? I am going to Radio Shack tomorrow, and do some exploring. If I find anything, I will let you know.

Check and see if Plantronics has anything like what you want. They are one of the leaders in headphones etc...

Hi Nancy, :-)

Many thanks for your input, but we have five telephones similar
to those you've mentioned. LOL.

I'm actually looking for something to put on my head. Lightweight,
preferably. I don't want to hold it with my hand or have to cock my
head to hold the phone with my shoulder.

Defoe and Aran, many thanks for your input, too. Didn't think about
Radio Shack. Hmm.

|Wuvie, went to Radio Shack today, and they have many phones with 2 or more phones and bases, plus, the option to buy a head set. Check them out, you may find something there, that won't cost and arm and a leg!!

Check out Sam's Club and Costco. We have 4 phones -all linked. Uniden makes them and they have paging capacity and speaker phone capability. The one base unit is also an answering machine. We have the 4 phones in the computer room, mst bdrm, living rm, and the base and othe phone are in the kitchen. They were under $100 when we bought them all together. Love em.

Hey Wuvie, I have some lightweight Jabra headsets.

Each headset has a boom microphone and an earpiece with an over the ear attachment. The earpiece can be adjusted so it will fit either ear. And the ear hook is flexible so you can bend it to fit your ear.

It has an adjustable clip to attach to your clothing too so the wire doesn't get tangled up.

It has a 2.5 mm plug which will work with most cordless phones (like my Bell South) and most cell phones (like my Motorola V170). I plug the headset in and clip the phone to my waistband and work in my garden while talking to people.

My sister said she can hear me very well on it, just like with a regular phone. I don't sound like I'm talking in a box. And I can hear her well too.

I have some extra ones (bought a surplus at a discount - my cat Rhett eats them). If you'd like to do some trading, maybe we could work something out. Here's a picture. I have three colors: silver, yellow and blue. If anyone else wants to trade for one (or more), I have quite a few extras. (Will give them as Christmas presents.) So holler if you're interested in trading.
