HELP!! I saw and read a thread earlier today about how to root a hydrangea cutting... sort filed in the back of my mind and thought I'd come home and print it out later... got home and found someone hit my hydrangea with a lawn mower (BOO HOO, BOO HOO) and cut off several branches with nice growing new leaves!!!! (Isn;t there a law against that?????) So, I immedaitely put the ones I could recover in water and am now furiously looking for that thread..... did the search thing and everything...can someone link me to it or explain what I can do with these cuttings??? They seem to be recovering already in the water....

Can't locate a thread...
Jeanne - I don't know where the thread is but hydrangeas are very easy to propagate. I have known people just stick the cutting in the soil and they root. But last July I took cuttings from non-flowering stems about 6" long and pulled off the bottom leaves leaving about 4 leaves in total. Then trim the cutting about an inch below a node (where the leaves join) and pot up singly in pots. Keep them moist in a shady part of the garden. You can use a rooting powder if you wish. My cuttings from last year are now about 2-3 feet tall and producing blooms.
hey lou,why are my scented turning yellow????????
All i can do is look out window and see yellow leaves,u think they miss me,I have them under shade cloth???

Thank you , thank you, and thank you, again Louisa! How many times already have you "saved" me and my flowers??? You are truly a treasure here! I'll let you know how they do and let me know if you'd like any. I posted a pic about a week ago of it- it's a beautiful blue one..... guess I'm learning fast about my little flowers!!!
